After spending her entire club career at Amlwch Town, Carol Lewis has decided who she is joining next – it’s CPDM Bangor.
The 36-year-old has been an Amlwch player for the past 12 seasons, but announced last month she was seeking a change of scene.
“While I’m still fit enough and young enough, I want to try myself out at Tier 2,” Carol told Grassroots North Wales.
“I’m pleased to be signing for Bangor and looking forward to the challenge of Tier 2 football. My aim is to push and better myself whilst I can.”
Bangor have already signed Ashleigh Jones was Trearddur Bay this summer and Carol Lewis becomes their second new recruit as they prepare for a second season in Adran North.
Manager Aron Griffith said: “We are privileged to have her leadership and experience with us for the upcoming season.”
Defender Lewis has played a major role in Amlwch’s successes of recent years.
She led the side to their first-ever trophy – the North Wales Supplementary Cup – in 2018-19 and followed up with the North Wales League Division Two title in 2019-20.
Hailing from Llannerchymedd, strong in the tackle and a tremendous organiser and motivator at the back, Lewis was also part of the Ynys Môn squad which won silver at the 2019 Inter-Games Football Tournament.
Four years later, she captained the Ynys Môn women’s team which finished a highest-ever fifth place in an official Island Games during 2023.
She competed in her fourth Island Games in 2023 (five if you include the one-off Inter-Games Tournament of 2019).
