Ten facts you may not know about Flint Town United defender Chloe Hughes

Chloe Hughes was an ever-present defender in Flint Town United’s North Wales Women’s League East title-winning side of 2023-24.
Here are 10 facts you might not know about this young player.
Chloe’s birthday is October 3 – she shares it with Netherlands international and VfL Wolfsburg defender Lynn Wilms (also former Bangor City player and assistant-manager Marc Limbert)

She is a member of the well-known Hughes family who are all involved with Flint Town United. Younger sisters Daisy and Rosie play for the women’s team, dad Stephen is involved with coaching and management, while mum Debbie helps ensure the admin runs smoothly.
Chloe owns a Long Haired Miniature Dachshund named Freddie who has been adopted as the women’s team mascot.
She first started playing football just over 2 years ago. “I trained a couple of times with the Holywell Ladies team, I only went to keep fit and have a change from the gym. Then they folded and then we set up Flint who I have played with since.”
Chloe has made 40 appearances for Flint ladies. She played in all 12 games last season as Flint won the North Wales League East Division title with 12 straight wins.
She has never missed a league game for Flint.
Chloe started taking part in athletics when she was 9. and competed until the age of 18. She first met Flint team-mate Charlotte Walters at athletics, whose mum Nicola was their first coach.
Sporty Chloe was once a Welsh record holder in the long jump. She first represented Wales in athletics at just 15 years old.

She was named Flint Town United women’s Most Improved Player at the end of the club’s debut 2022-23 season.
