Landmark coming up for Flint Town United women – and left-back Chloe Hughes

Chloe Hughes is on the verge of a major landmark for Flint

Flint Town United ladies – and one of their players – have a notable landmark coming up.

The Silkwomen’s next competitive game will be their 50th since forming in 2022-23 – and the same is true of left-back Chloe Hughes, an ever-present with the team since they beat Llanfairfechan Town in their debut fixture on September 18, 2022.

Chloe, 26, will become the first Flint player to make 50 appearances for the club if she features in the Genero Adran North match at Connah’s Quay Nomads on November 24.

Although yet to miss a competitive fixture for Flint, Chloe is still to score her first goal, so would love to put that right this season.

Her younger sisters, Daisy and Rosie, 20 and 19, also both play for the team, mum Debbie works in club admin and dad Stephen is part of the management set-up alongside manager Oli Williams and assistant Lee Hastings.

Rosie is the team’s all-time top goalscorer on 33, with Zoe Stopford, now in her second season at the Essity, very close behind on 32.

Teamwise, Flint have won 27 of their 49 matches, losing 20 and drawing two. Their first season was tough going, totally understandable for a brand new side, but in 2023-24, the Silkwomen won 16 in a row before ending the campaign with defeats to Pwllheli in the North Wales League play-off final and Betty Pickering Cup semi.

The black and whites won the North Wales League East title with a 100% record and gained promotion to the Tier 2 Genero Adran North, where they have made a very steady start.

Flint have scored 169 goals in their 49 matches across all competitions.
