Welsh Cricket Cup – king Cole and champion Campion star as Gwersyllt Park and Mochdre progress to zonal finals

Adam Campion claimed a tremendous five-wicket haul as Mochdre advanced to the Welsh Cup North Zone 2 semi-final at the expense of Bangor.
The hosts won the toss and elected to bat, opener Franco Kasner hitting a marvellous 73 and Nadeem Rehman 28 in an otherwise modest total of 149 all out.
Campion led the Mochdre heroics with 5-30 off eight, Owen Davies an excellent 3-18 from 6.5.
Finlay Jones grabbed the important wicket of Kasner, caught by Alex Davies.
In reply, Mochdre slowly but steadily reached 150-6 off 34.4, James French 35, Marcus Mangiameli 34 and Sam Davies 22 no.
Owen Reilly collected 3-28 and Peter Jones 3-38 for the Citizens.

North Zone 1 semi-final
Connah’s Quay 174-8 (40)
Gwersyllt Park 176-6 (34.3)

Lewis Cole was the toast of Gwersyllt Park after his unbeaten 83 guided the team to a Welsh Cup success at Central Park.
Quay were put into bat and posted 174-8 off their 40 overs, Rhys Stout 46 not out and Joshua Clarke 42, Cole scooping 2-43 for the away side.
The Park lost three wickets before Cole took command with his mighty knock, overshadowing everything else in the innings as 176-6 was reached in the 35th over.
Darren Leach pocketed 2-26 and Brody Camp 2-32 for the North Wales League Division One hosts.
Park will meet Brymbo in the North Zone 1 final.
