NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS DIVISIONS 1-4

DIVISION ONE

Saturday, May 11

Brymbo 2nd XI (1) 157-9 Conwy (14) 249-7

Evan Williams (76) and Jonathon James Davies (53 not out) led the way as Conwy set a big winning total at Brymbo seconds last Saturday.

Put into bat, the visitors amassed 249-7 off 45 overs, Shaun Davies (31) and Daniel Davies (29) adding useful knocks.

Despite most of the Steelmen attack coming in for some hammer, Gareth Pugh produced great figures of 6-36 off seven overs.

Brymbo seconds were limited to 157-9 in reply, Mike Paletta and Oliver Sheldrake both making 29 and Sam Aplin 27.

Tom Plank claimed 2-28 and Raj Britto 2-29 for the winning side.

Dolgellau (2) 205-7 Buckley (13) 206-5

Opener Rocco Franco hit a crucial 74 as Buckley celebrated victory at The Marian.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, Dolgellau set 205-7 off 45, South African Lafras Van Vuuren making a pleasing 87 not out on debut, while Sion Francis added 37.

Ollie Fellows picked up an excellent 4-29 for the visitors, who went on to reach 206-5 off 40, wicket keeper Franco’s innings the key one, Fellows adding 25 not out, while Jack Williams gathered 3-41 for the hosts.

Halkyn (0) 71-10 Connah’s Quay (15) 180-10

Maximum points for the Quay, with Tom Hooson top-scoring on 47 in their effort of 180 all out.

Muhummad Bajwa took 4-41 and Muhammad Khan 3-42 for the hosts, who were asked to field first.

Halkyn were bowled out for just 71, Lee Davies collecting an outstanding 6-11, while Mali Auty scooped 4-37.

Hawarden Park (4) 132-10 Mold (11) 139-10

Skipper Isaac Allen was chief contributor with 45 as Mold were dismissed for a modest 139 after choosing to bat in a thrilling close encounter at Moor Lane.

James Martin took 4-18 and Evan Shaw 3-34 for the home team, who in response could only muster 132 all out.

Opener Owen Skillander made 39 for the Park, while Mold’s main destroyer was Munowar Samsodien with 4-17 from nine, Aled Proffit 2-21 and Lewis Pringle 2-25.

Northop 2nd XI (13) 149-10 Abergele (2) 91-10

After calling the coin correctly and deciding to bat, Northop seconds were all back in the hutch for 149 off 43.5 overs, Darren Williams the standout with 46.

For Gele, Edward Rooney pocketed an impressive 4-32 off nine.

The away response was just 91 all out, Mark Poynton 4-27, Fabio Franco 3-22 and Matthew Mullarkey 2-19.

Pontblyddyn (1) 143-10 Bethesda (14) 144-3

Nicholas Parry posted a dominant 59 not out as Bethesda romped to a seven-wicket success at Alder Meadow.

Pontblyddyn were put into bat and sent packing for 143, Chris Moss hitting 39, while openers Gethin Thomas (32) and Richard Davies (26) put on 50.

Ben Parker shone brightest with the ball for Pesda with 3-13 off nine, Richard Lee Williams adding 2-33.

The Ogwen side reached the winning post on 144-3 off 38, Parry and Richard Green (36) putting on 80 for the third wicket, Parker ending on 25 not out, with Rhys Jones 2-16 off nine for Pont.

DIVISION TWO

Sunday, May 12

Llay Welfare (0) 56-10 Marchwiel & Wrexham (15) 314-10

George Forgrave hit 109 off just 72 deliveries and slammed 13 fours and five sixes as Marchwiel and Wrexham accumulated an awesome 314 all out off 40 overs at Llay Ring.

The hosts lived to regret their decision to put the away team into bat, Ashok Kumar adding 47, Matt Lawrenson 40 and skipper Sam Shoemark 33 for M & W.

Phil Bray took 6-67 off eight expensive overs for the home side.

Llay were then blitzed out for just 56, Charlie Gooding poaching 3-6 and Phil Oddie 3-12 for the overwhelming victors.

Bersham (11) 155-8 Mochdre 2nd XI (4) 154-9

Bersham edged home by two wickets in a very tight contest.

Mochdre seconds won the toss and opted for first knock, Owen Opie doing best with 59 in a total of 154-9 off 40 overs, Sathyajith Ihalagama 4-31 and Laksitha Lucky Danajaya 2-11 from seven.

Bersham got to 155-8 off 38, Maneesha Ayomal Nissanka 59 and Junaid Ali 35, Adam Jones 3-36 and Munim Khan 2-26 for the visitors.

Carmel and District (4) 189-6 Bangor 2nd XI (11) 202-7

Skipper Chris Barry (84) and Sohaib Khan (70) were head and shoulders above the rest as Bangor chalked up what was to be a winning score of 202-7 at Pen-y-Gelli.

Nick Hughes snapped up 2-18 and Ben Sim 2-34 for the home side, who gave it a good go in reply but ended on 189-6, Ryan Roberts 51 not out, skipper Sim 38 and fellow opener Danny Owens 32, Subhan Khan 2-31 for the Citizens.

Llanrwst (13) 224-1 Corwen (2) 151-9

Hosts Llanrwst made the most of being put in by the visitors as they struck 224-1 off 40 overs, openers Iwan Edwards and Aron Hughes putting on 218.

Edwards finished 102 not out off 96 balls, including 15 fours and a six, while skipper Hughes was out on 96, cracking 14 boundaries.

In response, Corwen were restricted to 151-9, Harry Pooler 54 and Matthew Scott 30, Alwyn Williams 3-18 and Iwan Edwards 3-27 to complete a tremendous all-round display.

Menai Bridge 2nds (13) 185-5 Pontblyddyn 2nd XI (2) 116-7

Invited to bat, Bridge set 185-5, Phil Smith 48 and skipper Ian Granger 31, Gareth Jones 2-27 and David Brilley 2-32 for the visitors.

Pont were limited to 116-7, Jack Deary 32, Ben Mills 2-14, Liam Stone 2-16 and David Owen 2-18 for the islanders.

DIVISION THREE

Saturday, May 11

Bethesda 2nd XI (1) 55-10 Ruthin (14) 139-9

From 53-6, Ruthin recovered to set 139-9 at Parc Villa, skipper Joshua Duckworth posting a vital 51 not out batting at eight and Jamie Hughes notching 33.

Arun Prabha was sensational for Pesda, pocketing 6-17 off eight overs.

Matthew Duckworth then grabbed 4-16, Oliver Jones 3-12 and Sion Hughes 2-2 as the hosts were skittled out for just 55.

Buckley 2nd XI (0) 174-10 Gwersyllt Park 2nd XI (15) 175-0

Park openers Alfie Lythgoe (80 not out) and Matthew Jones (73 no) took just 23.1 overs to score the 175 runs their team needed to win at Lane End.

Bucks were put into bat and removed for 174 in 38.4, Alyn Evans making 43, Joshua Murray 33 and Johnny Hewitt 32, Josh Marshall 3-16, Michael Griffiths 3-19 and Ben Griffiths 3-22 for Gwersyllt.

It looked as if the hosts had set a decent total, but Lythgoe and Jones made such light work of reaching their target.

Connah’s Quay 2nd XI (0) 84-10 Pwllheli (15) 196-8

Skipper Ioan Jones starred with 66 as Pwllheli recorded a formidable total of 196-8 off their 40 overs.

Adam Williams contributed 34 and Ioan Roberts 29 not out for the visitors.

Quay collapsed to 84 all out, Ioan Roberts 4-25, Daniel Pigott 2-9 and Harri Adams 2-14 for the newly-promoted Pwll.

Conwy 2nd XI (1) 94-10 Hawarden Park 2nd XI (14) 176-5

Luke Bennett (74) and captain Haseeb Hanif Bikya (47 not out) made sure Hawarden gathered a big enough score to bat Conwy out of the game.

Graham Meredith took 2-26 and Philip Michael Davies 2-36 for the hosts, who were bowled out for 94, Owen Ford 5-24, Ahmed Javed 2-2 off six and Luca Brooks 2-30 for victorious Park.

Denbigh 2nd XI (15) 46-1 Halkyn 2nd XI (0) 42-10

A one-sided affair at Ystrad Road saw Darren Nixon claim 6-14 and Umer Farrukh 2-13 as Halkyn folded for just 42, Denbigh easing to 46-1 in 7.5, Andy Thomas 30 not out.

Mold 2nd XI (13) 153-4 Clwb Criced Caernarfon (2) 151-10

Monis Altaf’s 71 enabled eight-man Caernarfon to set a challenging score of 151 at Chester Road, but Mold seconds were still able to reach the winning post quite comfortably.

Louis Boulton nabbed 3-29 and Chris Boulton 2-27 for the home attack.

Mold reached 153-4 with some overs to spare, Louis Boulton 60 not out and Craig Roberts 31, Simon Davis 3-34 for the Cofis.

DIVISION FOUR

Saturday, May 11

Abergele 2nd XI (12) 160-9 Ruthin 2nd XI (3) 124-9

Two knocks ensured Abergele were able to post a winning total at Pentre Mawr – 60 from Sebin Sebastion and David O’Neill’s 45 not out in an effort of 160-9.

Ned Roberts took 4-26, Gareth Beach 3-16 and Harry Edwards 2-16 for the visitors, who bowled well.

In reply, Ruthin were restricted to 124-9, Aled Owen 27 not out and Ned Roberts 27, Berwyn Thomas best for Gele with 3-16 off eight.

Corwen 2nd XI (12) 181-7 Dolgellau 2nd XI (3) 145-8

Barry Morris hit 100 not out in Corwen 2nds’ win over Dolgellau.

The next highest scores in the home team’s combined 181-7 were ‘extras’ on 36 and David Buckland’s 20 not out.

Thomas Deane collected 3-24 for the visitors, Alex Yorke 2-15.

Thomas Conde’s 56 was the highlight of Dolgellau’s 145-8, Morris completing a match to remember with 3-24, Buckland 2-19 and Nathan Davenport 2-24.

Hawarden Park 3rd XI (0) 42-10 Bersham 2nd XI (15) 250-6

Salastine Paily (77 not out) and Derick Dineshan (61) were the main stars of Bersham’s big total of 250-6, Gethin Birchall picking up 2-33 for the hosts.

Park were then rolled over for 42, Anooj Kesavan 5-15 and Ebin Verghese 2-1.

Marchwiel and Wrexham 2nd XI (14) 226-1 Llanrwst 2nd XI (1) 129-7

Opener Nick Husbands struck the weekend’s biggest score of 152 not out as Marchwiel enjoyed an emphatic win over the Rwsters.

Choosing to bat after winning the toss, the Wrexham area side amassed 226-1 off 40 overs, Matthew Salisbury finishing 59 no in a second-wicket stand of 202 with Husbands.

Llanrwst managed to salvage a point as they ended on 129-7, Lee Thomas 41 no, Robbie Williams 4-13 and Mike Lee 3-19 for the winners.

Mynydd Isa and Maeshafn (14) 206-5 Carmel and District 2nd XI (1) 115-8

Asked to bat first, the home side said thank you very much and set a big figure of 206-5, opener Sivaraman Seramanperuman making 60 and Saboor Afghan 39 no.

Steve Nash took 2-10 for Carmel, who managed 115-8 in response, Jonathan Fisher 56. Afghan and Jonathan Fagan both 3-9 for the hosts, Naseer Ahmadzai 2-18.
