Australian Brody Camp produced a big knock of 86 to inspire Connah’s Quay to a Welsh Cup triumph over visitors Northop Hall on Sunday.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, the Quay piled up a fine score of 244-7 off 40 overs, Camp sharing in a fourth-wicket stand of 104 with Tom Hooson, whose 53 came off 45 balls and included seven fours and a six.
Camp’s innings took up 81 deliveries with nine boundaries and a maximum.
Opener Mali Auty also produced a useful 41, while for the Hall, Nathan Roett picked up 3-36 and Michael Williamson 2-14.
Rain affected Northop Hall’s reply and they were set a revised target of 151 off 27, but finished up on 138-4, meaning Quay were declared victors by 12 runs.
Cayo Jones struck 43 and Williamson 30 not out for the away side, Camp with 2-43 for the Deesiders.
Ethan McCarthy produced a first team career best 104 as Gwersyllt Park cruised to victory over Mold.
Park won the toss and batted, piling up 258-8 from their 40 allotted overs, Ralfie Challinor and Jake James adding 44 apiece to McCarthy’s ton, which came off just 82 balls and involved 13 fours and four sixes.
McCarthy and Challinor shared a second wicket-wicket partnership of 131.
Munowar Samsodien snapped up a very impressive 4-26 off 7.1 for the visitors, Thomas North bagging 2-42.
Mold were bowled out for 172 in response, North 58 and Samsodien 31 no, Neil Pearson grabbing 4-33 and captain Iroshan De Silva 2-38 for the winning side.
Hosts Bangor comfortably saw off Denbigh by six wickets in an all-North Wales League Premier Division Welsh Cup clash at Ty Newydd.
The visitors called the coin correctly and batted, but were dismissed for a modest 124 in the last of their 40 overs, skipper Harrison Jones best with 37.
For the Citizens, Calum Andrews scooped 3-18, Franco Kasner 3-20 and Owen Reilly 2-24.
Bangor dipped to 27-3 in reply before Nadeem Rehman (58 not out) and Reilly (38) steaded the ship with a stand of 74.
The home side reached a winning 128-4 in the 36th over.
Rain prevented the completion of the tie between early season North Wales League Premier Division high-flyers Mochdre and Welsh Cup holders the Bay.
Put into bat, Mochdre set 212-6 off their 40, skipper Joe Chaplin 70, Matty Humphreys 57 and Alex Davies 36, Ryan Holtby 2-22 for the visitors.
Due to the weather, Bay’s innings never started so the match will have to be replayed.
