NORTH WALES WOMEN’S LEAGUE PLAY-OFF FINAL
Flint Town United v CPD Pwllheli
Sunday, May 5, at OPS Wind Arena, Llandudno, kick off 1 pm

Something has to give when the two best Tier 3 teams in North Wales women’s football clash on Sunday.

Champions of the North Wales League East division Flint Town United will take on West title winners Pwllheli to decide who is number one.

Both teams produced invincible records in their respective leagues this term

FLINT TOWN UNITED

In just their second season, Flint topped the East table with a record of: played 12 won 12 drawn 0 lost 0 goals for 66 goals against 10 points 30.
Elliott Hale’s side have won each of their 17 league and cup matches played this season, their 38 cup goals netted across five ties giving them a grand total of 104 in all.
They have actually won 19 games on the bounce, having been victorious in their last two fixtures of 2022-23 as well.
The last team they lost against? It was on April 30, 2023, in the North Wales League (when it was a single division competition) and the opposition was…..Pwllheli. The score 4-1.

CPD PWLLHELI

Their vastly experienced squad contains several players who have competed at Tier 1 and 2 level in Wales, as well as T3.
Three of their players have featured in a Welsh Cup Final, while one is a Tier 2 champion.
Pwllheli topped the West Division this season with 10 wins out of 10, scoring 55 goals and conceding just seven.
In 16 matches in all competitions, Pwllheli have won 14, scoring a total of 75 goals. They have not let in a single goal in their last five matches and are on a run of 11 straight victories.
Like Flint, they are into the Betty Pickering Cup semi-finals, where they will meet the Silkwomen again.

MEET THE SQUADS

FLINT TOWN UNITED

Becky Bott

Unfortunately picked up a broken finger late in the season, but played in 10 league games and conceded just seven goals, keeping a magnificent six clean sheets.
Has returned to action in stages and could be ready for the end of season play-off.

Sinead Beck

Mainly an outfield player, but showed her versatility by taking the gloves in recent matches after regular keeper Becky Bott sustained a broken finger and has done a great job between the sticks. Formerly with Holywell.

Emily Edwards

Former Holywell defender who has been magnificent at the back for the Silkwomen this season. Has made 13 appearances for Flint since joining the club last summer.

Chloe Hughes

Eldest of three sisters in the team.
Speedy defender and an ever-present in the league. Model of consistency at the back.

Charlotte Walters

Tall, solid defender who has done as much as anyone to ensure Flint let in just 10 goals in 12 league games.

Taylia Chaloner

A really consistent defender who featured in 18 matches for Flint last season and this term has played in 14 games.
She has chipped in with a couple of goals in the Betty Pickering Cup and typifies the great Flint spirit.

Daisy Hughes

The middle sister of the Hughes trio in between Chloe and Rosie, Daisy is a hard-working reliable midfielder who can score goals and is much appreciated for her passing and assists.
Has scored eight goals this season and netted six in 2022-23.

Ruby McGilloway (c)

Captain majestic who can do everything – score goals, produce great passes and run all day.
Forms a tremendous partnership in the centre of the field with Rosie Hughes. Her brother Brady plays for Cymru North champions Holywell Town.

Jennifer Haynes

Tremendous attacking midfielder who has played in every league game, scoring five goals and providing six assists.
Notched first official hat-trick for the team in 11-2 drubbing of Denbigh.
Formerly played for Connah’s Quay Nomads, being part of their brilliant 2019-20 side which reached the Welsh Cup semi-finals under Sara Hilton.

Tegan Crockett

What a signing! Has scored 18 goals in 17 games since joining at the start of the season from Rhyl 1879.
Her stupendous volley against Northop Hall was a goal of the season contender. Great player up front.

Rosie Hughes

Midfield magician who is the club’s all-time top-scorer at present with 28 goals in 37 appearances.
She has netted 18 this term, some of them spectacular. Amazing to watch on the ball in full flight.

Zoe Stopford

Has scored a brilliant 26 goals in 16 games for a team she joined at the start of the season.
Great finisher, also stands out in her link-up play and passing. Consistent goal-getter wherever she has played.

Ruby Hastings

A truly tremendous addition to the squad this season, her pace, assists and goals making her one of the stars of the campaign.
Just 17, she played in all the league games, helping Flint lift the East Division title with a 100% record. Has netted six times in all across 17 appearances. More ‘Haste’, definitely NOT less speed 🙂

Jasmine Edwards

Exciting forward player who has scored five goals in 13 games this season in all competitions. Mainly used as an impact substitute and has been very effective.

Olivia Owens

Made her debut in the recent 6-0 Betty Pickering Cup win over Llanystumdwy and is a welcome addition to the squad.

Natalie Bennett

Experienced former Nomads player who has featured as a substitute this season for Flint on four occasions.

Charlotte Xena Rose

Former Holywell player, great personality to have in the dressing room and a big help to the younger element.
Six substitute appearances, most of them towards the end of the season in the final push for the title.

CPD PWLLHELI

Sara Williams

Joined Pwllheli this season and has been outstanding in goal as well as playing outfield when needed.
Won the tier 2 Genero Adran North title with Llandudno in 2021-22 and has also played for Colwyn Bay, Llandudno Junction, Caernarfon Town, Mountain Rangers, Amlwch Town and Bangor City. Absolute legend of the game in North Wales.

Marsli Owen

Never gives up. Mainly plays at left-back. She has improved every season and continues to get stronger.

Charley Davies

Tall. solid centre-back who is guaranteed to win aerial duels. She’s both strong and tactical and has very good knowledge of the game. Also effective in midfield.

Jini Owen-Hughes

One to watch. Seventeen-year-old sensation who has scored 19 goals in 14 appearances this season.
Previously an outstanding player with CPD Merched Tref Caernarfon.

Magi Hughes (c)

Captain fantastic in the midfield who has scored six goals in her last four games.
Magnificent on the ball, she has been a loyal servant to Pwllheli over a number of seasons.

Lois Thomas

Few can match her record for goalscoring. Still just 24, this super-quick attacker has hit 15 goals this season.
She netted more than 30 times for Pwllheli in 2017-18 aged just 17 and must have notched up in the region of 100 goals for the club by now.

Sioned Bohana

Rock-solid defender who has been a stand-out performer for the likes of Caernarfon Town and Llandudno in past seasons.
Returned to Pwllheli after becoming a mum and has remained the same great player that she’s always been.

Leanne Rees-Hughes

Had been a winger for Pwllheli over many years, but the last two seasons she has been thriving at left-back. Strong, fast and still likes a run up the wing to fire the ball into the box.

Stacey Sansome

Solid all-rounder who works tirelessly from start to finish. An asset to the team in midfield. Her impact and influence on the team shows as she is joint top in the league for assists. Strong with the ball at her feet and in a tackle.

Sian Moore

One of the most accomplished defenders around, solid in all aspects of play at the back.
A true Pwllheli stalwart, Sian is often singled out as one of the best players on the field.
Hailing from a footballing family, she played in all of Pwllheli’s league games this term.

Katie Bowe

Legend of North Wales football renowned for her sublime free-kick goals, long range shooting and passing ability.
Was outstanding for Llandudno in 2015-16, scoring a stunner in the Welsh Cup final which made her the first-ever woman to be nominated for Sgorio’s Goal of the Month award.
After taking time out to become a mum, she’s getting back to her best, recently netting a hat-trick.

Catrin Thomas

Has scored in a Welsh Cup final for Llandudno and was top goal-getter with 38 when Caernarfon Town won the North Wales league and cup double in 2016-17.
Tremendous on the ball, hard to dispossess, has a great shot and since returning to football with Pwllheli she has been as great as ever.

Hayley Rees-Jones

Will play almost anywhere she’s needed. She’s a tall player who will win all the balls in the air, be that in defence or in the box on an attacking corner. She’s strong and gives her all every time.

Erica Jones

Voted North Wales’ Greatest Ever in a poll conducted among her fellow current and ex-players in 2021.
Manager and a total rock for Pwllheli over many years, although she did have a short spell for Caernarfon Town in the Welsh Premier.
Sensational manager and player who really puts the team at the heart of what she does. The players say this play-off final is for her.

Bess Roberts

Started back this season after being away in university for a few years.
Another powerful midfielder who also plays well in the number 10 position. She can adapt her game to the players around her, has a strong strike and scores a good few goals.

Lowri Hughes

Just returned after becoming a mother last year. Phenomenal player and settled straight back in as if she never left.
A classy defender with amazing ball skills and tackling ability, she has also been a regular goalscorer over the years and can adapt to most positions.

Keely Jones

Powerful midfielder who joined Pwllheli this season after quite a few years away from football. Strong with the ball at her feet and a vital member of the squad.
