One relegation place in the JD Cymru Premier remains undecided after it was confirmed today that Pontypool United have lost the right to compete in the top flight next season.

The South Wales club, who have already had nine points deducted from their total this season for rule transgressions, have also lost their appeal against the FAW’s decision to refuse them a Tier 1 licence.

That means Colwyn Bay and Aberystwyth Town are the only two relegation candidates remaining.

Aberystwyth are on 24 points from 31 games, while Bay have 22 from the same number of matches. Both have an identical goal difference of -33.

In their final matches of the season this Sunday, Aberystwyth will host already doomed Pontypridd, while Bay are home to Barry Town United.

Colwyn must win, and hope Aberystwyth draw or lose, to stay up.

Today, the FAW made the following announcement:

The independent Club Licensing Appeals Body met today (18 April) to consider the appeals as a result of the First Instance Body decisions on 4 April for participation in men’s UEFA competitions and the JD Cymru Premier.
The FAW received one appeal for consideration from Pontypridd United for the refusal of their men’s Tier 1 Club Licence.
Pontypridd United were unsuccessful with their appeal.
As a result, this concludes the UEFA & Tier 1 Club Licensing cycle for participation in Tier 1 and UEFA competitions for the 2024/25 season.
