Amazing news: CPD Y Rhyl 1879 raise 100% of funding needed to purchase historic ground

On the field, CPD Y Rhyl 1879 are currently top of the league – and off it they are playing an absolute blinder.

The club has now achieved the amazing feat of raising the entire sum needed to purchase its Belle Vue ground.

100% funding and debt-free – in these times isn’t that a great thing to read!

It was announced last month the Tier 3 Ardal North West club had been pledged grant funding of more than £378,000 to bring community ownership of the ground considerably closer.

Rhyl 1879’s application to the Community Ownership Fund was approved in principle to receive a maximum 80% award.

The club said the funding value of £369,600 capital and £9,000 revenue would go a long way towards nailing down the famous Belle Vue’s long-term future as a football stadium.

However, today it’s been announced the remaining 20% has now been raised to purchase Belle Vue.

Club chairman Tom Jamieson said: “We are delighted to inform you that following the award of our UK Government Community Ownership Fund (COF) grant for the maximum 80% that we could’ve received amounting to £378,600, we are now excited and delighted to share that we can confirm we have also now raised the remaining 20% funding required to purchase Belle Vue.

“This not only means we can move forward ASAP but more importantly the club will be completely debt free as none of the funds obtained are loans on the club or any of its assets.

“Following the fantastic news a few weeks ago when we obtained the funding from the Community Ownership Fund we have continued to work at pace and have been relentless in our efforts to ensure we could fund the remaining 20% debt free to support our exciting community and footballing growth plans.

“Now that we have it all in place we will need to work with the COF team and our legal partners to ensure we complete the required commercial property purchase process in the right way to protect and support both parties involved in the transaction.”

Further updates will follow in due course.
