Llandudno FC women’s team appeal against Tier 1 licence rejection

Llandudno have appealed against the FAW’s decision to refuse their women’s team a licence to compete in the Adran Premier League next season – and are confident they can turn the situation around.

Club chairman Dave Guinn says the setback was down to a “small admin error fixed within minutes”, adding the application has been resubmitted.

Llandudno were recently crowned champions of Tier 2 Adran North for a second time in three seasons.

The team won 13 of its 14 matches, netting 80 goals.

Tudno were in the former Welsh Premier Women’s League for eight successive seasons between 2012-13 and 2019-20, until the club resigned after years of heavy commitment campaigning in a national league made up of mainly South Wales clubs took its toll.

In 2021-22, Llandudno joined the newly-formed Tier 2 Adran North and were crowned champions in the first season. They have repeated that feat in 2023-24.

Llandudno did not apply for promotion to Tier 1 after their 2021-22 title success.

They have done so this time around, and if they win their appeal will play Adran South champions Briton Ferry Llansawel in a promotion play-off final on April 21.

If Llandudno are unsuccessful, Briton Ferry would be automatically promoted.

Wrexham are currently the only North Wales team competing in the Adran Premier.
