Despite losing goalkeeper Paul Pritchard to a 17th minute red card Trearddur Bay went on to win and regain the Premier Division leadership after a fine performance at Treborth.

Now unbeaten in 18 league matches, the Anglesey visitors took a 13th minute lead when Asa Thomas assisted in Matt Reynolds netting his 23rd club goal of the campaign.

Four minutes later came big problems for the islanders when veteran keeper Pritchard was dismissed for handling outside the penalty area.

Defender and skipper Dan McGinness took over between the sticks and kept a clean sheet for over 75 minutes.

Talysarn were also reduced to 10 after 44 minutes when captain Llion Jones was shown a second yellow card.

Bay went two-up on 54 minutes when Reynolds reversed roles and turned provider, setting up Thomas for his 46th club goal of 2023-24.

On a night which worked out perfectly for Nick Dumbarton’s table-toppers, young substitute Cameron Buckley, a big success in the Development side this season, came off the bench and made it 3-0 in the 87th minute.

Four goals from the prolific Jamie McDaid put him on 39 in all competitions this season and ensured Llanrug romped to victory at School Lane.

It was a good night for one Bay from Anglesey, but certainly not Cemaes, who went into Thursday’s match with five straight league wins behind them.

Their last defeat in any competition had come on January 27 when they lost 4-1 away to……Llanrug in the Cwpan Snowdonia.

McDaid, the Premier’s top marksman with 32 goals, got off to a flyer, netting after two and nine minutes.

Matty Roberts replied on 34 to give Cemaes some hope for the second half.

However, after the break, McDaid pounced on 58 and 71 minutes to complete an emphatic victory for the visitors.
