JD Cymru North – Easter Monday and Good Friday reports

CYMRU NORTH EASTER WEEKEND REPORTS – MARCH 30-APRIL 1
EASTER MONDAY, APRIL 1
Bangor 1876 0 Llandudno 3
Llandudno marked their recent relegation escape in style with a three-goal victory at Nantporth on Easter Monday.
In a lively start to the game, a low shot from Bangor’s Sam Jones was saved by visiting goalkeeper Joe Angus.
Dale Davies tried his luck with an acrobatic effort after Joe Culshaw chipped the ball into the box but Angus again thwarted the hosts.
Just after the midway point, 1876 top-scorer Corrig McGonigle tried a chip from a tight angle but his effort went just over the bar and landed on top of the net.
Despite the pressure from Bangor, it was the visitors who had a glorious chance to open the scoring five minutes before the break.

After a neat passing move, Alfie Banning found space inside the Bangor penalty area but Carl Jones saved well with his feet.
Just before the break, Bangor’s Sam Jones narrowly missed the target with a curling effort from the edge of the box.
HALF-TIME: BANGOR 1876 0-0 LLANDUDNO
Llandudno had the first chance of the second half. Harvey Bennett broke into the area and found himself clean through on goal, but Carl Jones denied him.
At the other end, McGonigle and Iolo Hughes had attempts on goal before Mason Blackwell-Jones saw a shot from the edge of the box superbly turned around the post by Angus.

On 66 minutes, the visitors broke the deadlock.
Ethan Roberts found himself clean through. He unselfishly squared the ball and enabled substitute Dan Holland to side-foot in the opening goal. There was then a short delay after a flare was thrown onto the field from the away end.
Tudno doubled their advantage after 70. Bangor were caught in possession trying to play the ball out from the back, allowing Roberts to break forward and place his shot past Jones.
Jones had to pull off another fine save to prevent Ethan Roberts from extending the visitors’ advantage.
In injury time, a collision between Sion Edwards and Dion Jones allowed Ethan Roberts to break into the Bangor box and square the ball for Bennett to round off an away victory for the Seasiders.
Airbus UK Broughton 2 Buckley Town 2
While Airbus went top on goal difference after this result, they will definitely see it as two points dropped.
The Wingmakers nudged ahead of Holywell in the title race, but have played three games more and only have one fixture left.
Kaiden Cooke gave the Wingmakers a 17th minute lead and when Nick Rushton added another to make it 2-0 at half time, Mark Allen’s side looked well on the way to victory.
But Buckley refused to lie down and captain Callum Humphries made it 2-1 on 55 minutes before player-manager Asa Hamilton levelled after 83 to secure a point.
Chirk AAA 1 Porthmadog 1
Rhys Edwards gave Chirk a 24th minute lead, but Port earned a draw which could yet prove vital in their survival bid when Rhys Alun equalised after 53.
Flint Town United 6 Mold Alexandra 3
Four-goal hero Elliott Reeves boosted his league tally up to 28 for the season as Flint kept their title hopes on the boil with victory in a goal-packed thriller at the Essity Stadium.
Reeves struck on 5, 10, 49 and 61 minutes for the Silkmen, whose other strikes were supplied by Josh Jones on 28 and Lewis Sirrell after 42.
Aiden Farren, Charlie Davies and Jake Roberts had all netted to ensure Mold trailed just 4-3 at half time, but Reeves’ second period double clinched it for Lee Fowler’s men.
Guilsfield 0 Gresford Athletic 1
Joe Chaplin scored in the 23rd minute from a Charlie Mann assist to ensure Gresford picked up three excellent points in Powys.
Holywell Town P Llanidloes Town P
No game for the Wellmen due to the Halkyn Road pitch being waterlogged, but despite losing the leadership of the table, Johnny Haseldin’s side are still in a very strong position to land the title.
Ruthin Town 4 Prestatyn Town 0
Dave Evans made it three straight wins since taking over as Ruthin manager on an afternoon which did nothing for Prestatyn’s hopes of retaining their Cymru North status.
The visitors lost Tom Kemp to a 13th minute red card and from there on were up against it versus a home side in good form.
Sam Jones broke the deadlock with a 24th minute penalty before a Llyr Morris double make it 3-0 at the interval.
Ethan Davies bagged a fourth home goal on 66 minutes.
Caersws v Denbigh Town (5.15 pm kick off)
LATEST – 16 MIN: Caersws 1 (Craig Williams 11) Denbigh Town 0

GOOD FRIDAY, MARCH 29
Llandudno 0 Holywell Town 4
This was a 14th straight league win for leaders Holywell at the expense of a Llandudno side who were also celebrating after the final whistle when it was confirmed they are safe from relegation.
Substitute Julian Williams bagged a brace as the Wellmen took a step closer to the title with a 4-0 victory at the OPS Wind Arena on Good Friday.
Gareth Evans tapped home from close range against his ex-club in the midst of a goalmouth scramble to give Johnny Haseldin’s team a ninth-minute lead.
Beau Cornish added a second on the hour mark, before Williams came off the bench to score twice in stoppage time against his former team.
Llandudno are assured of Cymru North football next season despite their defeat – an impressive achievement after they picked up just three points from their first nine games of the season.
Gresford Athletic 1 Ruthin Town 2
Early goals from Harry Martin and Kurtis Pearson were enough to give Ruthin a hard-fought 2-1 victory at Gresford.
Martin and Pearson both netted inside the first five minutes at The Rock, and those strikes proved decisive despite Haci Ozlu’s goal which halved the deficit midway through the first half.
Llanidloes Town 1 Chirk AAA 2
Llanidloes were relegated from the Cymru North after suffering a 2-1 loss at home to Chirk AAA., who recorded a first away win of the campaign.
The also-relegated Colliers drew first blood in first half stoppage time as striker Louie Middlehurst netted his second goal in as many games, but Luke Boundford equalised for the hosts with 54 minutes on the clock.
However, Chirk restored their lead through Jack Edwards in the 77th minute and this time around they were able to hold on.
Mold Alexandra 2 Caersws 1
Jake Roberts’ late penalty won the day for Mold.
Bluebirds forward Neil Mitchell continued his fine recent form by breaking the deadlock with a superb strike in the 16th minute, but Alex drew level at the beginning of the second half as Roberts set up Steve Watkins to score.
Roberts then found the net himself as he calmly converted from the spot in the 85th minute to complete the comeback for Mold, who strengthened their grip on fourth place.
Porthmadog 0 Airbus UK 3
Three second-half goals clinched the points for title hopefuls Airbus.
The Wingmakers were kept at bay by the hosts in the first half, but quickfire goals from Sam Baker and Craig Lindfield broke Port’s resistance early in the second period. Substitute James Davies wrapped things up eight minutes from time with his 10th goal of the season.
