It’s wonderful news for CPD Y Rhyl 1879!

Fantastic news – the future of football at Rhyl’s Belle Vue stadium looks secure.
CPD Y Rhyl 1879 have been pledged grant funding of more than £378,000 to bring community ownership of the ground considerably closer.
The Ardal North West League club’s application to the Community Ownership Fund has been approved in principle to receive a maximum 80% award.
The funding value is £369,600 capital and £9,000 revenue which will go a long way towards nailing down the famous Belle Vue’s long-term future as a football stadium.
CPD Y Rhyl 1879 chairman Tom Jamieson said: “This is fantastic news following all the hard work behind the scenes over the past four years as we have been striving to ensure the community of Rhyl secures Belle Vue indefinitely.
“I want to personally thank Adam Roche (CEO) for all of his hard work and tireless efforts on securing the funding and whilst there is some way to go this is a huge step for us in achieving our goal.
“I would like to thank our local representatives from both the UK Government, Welsh Assembly and local councils.”
The original Rhyl FC folded in 2020, bringing an end to a proud 141-year existence which delivered four Welsh Cups, two Welsh Premier League titles and three Cheshire League crowns, as well as numerous appearances in European football and famous FA Cup runs.
The successor club, CPD Y Rhyl 1879, currently play in the third-tier of Welsh football, and are in their third season.
One of the key ambitions of the phoenix club has been to secure the future of Belle Vue and today’s announcement goes a long way towards that.
Rhyl 1879 are home to Brickfield Rangers today, kick-off 2.30 pm.
