Dream comes true for veteran baller Dave Parry – and it’s a real family affair

Veteran footballer Dave Parry made a comeback today at the age of 49 – and realised a very special ambition at the same time.

Dave came on as an 80th minute substitute for FC Plas Madoc of the North East Wales Football League Championship Division in their 8-2 victory at Skippy FC.

Also on the pitch was Dave’s son Blake Parry, 16, and 31-year-old nephew Josh Hughes.

Plas Madoc manager Ryan Roberts explained: “They are a very close family and Dave had always wanted to play alongside his son and nephew, so today was a dream come true for him.”

It was Dave’s first game of competitive football in 18 years. His former clubs include Bangor City.

Plas Madoc’s victory today keeps them second in the Championship, six points behind leaders Gronant with three games in hand.

The Wrexham side have won 15 of their 16 league matches, losing only to Gronant last August.

Joshua Rush (3), James Williams (2), Oliver Roberts (2) and Matthew Onissiphorou shared the goals at Skippy.
