Battle for Genero Adran North title is fascinating – and scrap for fourth spot is hotting up too

There is a very interesting battle for the title shaping up in the Tier 2 Genero Adran North League.
On the face of it, Llandudno appear to be hot favourites and they are deservedly in a very strong position, but there are a couple of other scenarios to consider.
First, however, the simple fact.
Ten more points from their final four games will clinch Llandudno a second championship crown in three seasons. If they get 37 points that is it…..no-one else can match or overtake them.
Nine points out of a possible 12 might also be enough for Tudno, such is their superior goal difference over the other two contenders, CPDM Y Felinheli and Connah’s Quay Nomads.
Llandudno’s last four league games are away to Llanfair United and Airbus, then home against Felinheli and NFA.
Based on this season’s form book, Tudno should definitely win three of those, with Felin the possible stumbling block.
If Tudno were to lose to Felinheli, and win their other three, they would end up on 36 points.
By the same token, if Felinheli are victorious in their final five matches versus CPDM Bangor (home), CPD Y Rhyl 1879 (home and away), Llandudno (h) and Llanfair (h) they will end on 36 points!
And, in what is a very possible occurrence, third-place Connah’s Quay, on 18 points with six league games remaining, could ALSO finish on 36 if they win all their matches – which they are very capable of with all opposition to come below them in the table.
So there is a chance – a long shot admittedly, of the title being decided on goal difference with three teams finishing on 36 points apiece.
Of course, we are playing Fantasy Football here and assuming an awful lot. Football is a strange game and so often things do not go along with the script.
However, a look at the state of play and remaining fixtures does make it clear there is still a fair way to go before the title is won. Good luck to all!

AND JUST AS A HANDY LITTLE SIDESTORY….

There could also be a nice little all-Rhyl battle brewing to finish fourth.
NFA moved into fourth place at the weekend with a record of 11 games and 13 points, while neighbours Rhyl 1879 are on 12 points from 9 matches.
They still have to play each other – at NFA’s Ffordd Derwen on St Patrick’s Day – and that crunch clash could well decide who ends up fourth.
That derby aside, both teams have a really tough run-in.
NFA have to host Connah’s Quay Nomads and, on the final scheduled afternoon of the season, travel to current leaders Llandudno.
Again playing ‘what if’…..if NFA lose to Nomads and Tudno, would three points against Rhyl 1879 be enough to seal fourth? Such a scenario would mean NFA ended up with 16 points.
Rhyl are already on 12 with five games to play. If they lost at NFA, they may need five points from the other four matches to snatch fourth.
Those other games are Felinheli home and away, Nomads at home and Bangor at home.
The Lilywhites could definitely win the Bangor game – although not with ease – but would have to be classed as second favourites to get a victory against Felin or Nomads.
However, if Rhyl could beat NFA on March 17, it might be enough to get them top four status in their second season at this level.
As with the top three situation, there is still much football left to play and nothing can be taken for granted, but NFA’s recent fine form has certainly created fresh interest in the quest for fourth spot which otherwise would not have been there.
