Star Seren hits four goals in emphatic Kinmel Bay victory – also Berriew win at Bellevue

Seren Williams was a four-goal star as second-place Kinmel Bay romped to an emphatic victory at Maesydre.

Continuing on from their success the previous weekend at Northop Hall, Bay’s long journey to Powys on Sunday did not disappoint.

Whilst slow to start in the first half with many shots stopped by the newly-signed Welshpool keeper Sarah Parkes, the visitors finally got the breakthrough on 28 minutes when a well-timed pass from Jess Jones found leading scorer Seren Williams, who hit the ball at pace to open the scoring.

Going into the interval one-up, Kinmel Bay came out with fire in their bellies ready for the second half.

In the first minute, a fine long pass from right-back Amy Chesters found the feet of Seren Williams, who neatly put the ball past the keeper.

Six minutes later Seren Williams played a lovely through ball just in front of Jess Jones who calmly chipped into the back of the net.

In the 62nd minute a long throw from Millie Sergent was brought under control by Seren Williams followed by a superb strike which lobbed the Welshpool keeper and found the net making it a hat-trick.

Williams hadn’t finished there, a smartly-timed run coming nine minutes later with a precise shot to the left of the keeper making it 5-0 – her ninth goal of the season.

The last of the away side’s six goals came from centre-back Jen Small, who ran the full length of the pitch, dribbling past many players and finishing with a well-hit strike to the bottom left corner of the net.

The final goal of the game came from Welshpool’s Naomi Evans, who confidently put away a free kick.

Bay manager Naomii Oakley and substitute Phoenix Carey both saw red cards in the closing stages.

Bellevue 0 Berriew 1

Carla Jones grabbed her second in two games as her first half goal ensured Berriew make it three wins on the bounce.

During the week, Berriew signed former TNS player, Faye Marshall, a left sided player who will bring her experience of the Genero Adran Premier League to the Rhiewsiders midfield.

Bellevue, who won 2-1 at Berriew earlier this season, have lost seven on the bounce but have been beaten by just a single goal in their last two outings.
