NFA boosted their hopes of a top-four finish in their debut Tier 2 season with an emphatic win over Airbus on Sunday.

The Rhyl hosts started brightly, but an early away breakaway attack resulted in a shot which keeper Katie Spruce saved comfortably enough.

The home team then took control and grabbed a 13th minute lead.

Jade Scott lofted in a flag-kick and Georgia Williams sent a left-foot volley into the top corner.

Williams added her second 10 minutes later with another well-struck effort and before the half hour, a Scott corner flew directly into the net.

NFA were now rampant and Amy Webster’s fierce shot following a run down the left forced Wingmakers keeper Ruby Stevens into a great save, pushing the ball against the post.

Just before half time, Airbus got through down the left and crossed, Spruce getting a vital touch to knock the ball away from the incoming striker.

Half-time: NFA 3-0 Airbus

The visitors came out fighting for the second half, but again they were unable to test Spruce too much.

NFA went four-up when Webster crossed from the right and slight confusion in the Airbus defence enabled substitute Kayla Hargreaves to tap in.

Numerous substitutions were made and one replacement, NFA keeper Courtney Ingram, who came on for Spruce after 71, produced a great stop on the line before concocting a cracking double save.

Airbus did claim a late consolation through their excellent young forward Laura Pratt, but this was NFA’s day.

It was a revenge outcome for the Rhyl side, who had lost 1-0 at Airbus back in October – the Wingmakers’ only league win of the season so far.

Several good displays from NFA, but the player of the match went to new signing Kaelyn Williams, who was superb in an up-front role.
