After news from the development league meeting last week that the league would be splitting at the end of February, Penmaenmawr were looking to get a positive result to help their chances of finishing in the top four.

The first 10 minutes of Sunday’s clash at Cae Sling were end-to-end with both teams creating a couple of half-chances.

In the 14th minute, it was the home side who took the lead thanks to some good midfield play from skipper Bleddyn Hughes, who set Corey Lundstram away down the right-hand side.

As the young winger cut into the area, Glannau defender and captain Andrew Morris attempted to make a challenge but unfortunately the ball found its way into the net for an own goal.

Glannau looked to bounce back and went on the attack. Young home keeper Iolo Brown was alert to sniff out any danger that came his way.

In minute 31 a solo run from Billy Sieben opened up Glannau’s defence and he found Corey Lundstram at the edge of the area. Again, the 16-year-old cut into the box and this time managed to unleash a shot that gave the keeper no chance.

Half-time: 2-0

Aidan Williams made a long-awaited return to the senior set-up and enjoyed the 3 points

The second half began in the same fashion the first ended with both teams looking to score goals.

In the 68th minute Pen’s Harvey Roberts made his impact after coming off the bench.

The young midfielder picked the ball up inside Y Glannau’s half, decided to try his luck from 35 yards and his effort curled into the top corner to put Phoenix 3-0 up.

Glannau sub Rhys Thomas-Clark scored a consolation goal in the 83rd minute – a fine finish from the edge of the area.

Bow Reserves 6 Prestatyn Wanderers Reserves 1

New coaching team Jordan Latham, Josh Tambs and Colin Portman guided Bow Reserves to a big win in their first game together at the helm.

Adam Williams (3), Liam Brown, Jonny Mee and Barry Roche shared the home goals, Ian Hannah replying.

A sloppy first half from the hosts nonetheless saw them 2-1 up at the break.

Williams opened the scoring on eight minutes before Bow were caught out off a corner and Hannah made it 1-1 with 14 gone.

In the 31st minute, Williams scored again. At half time, Zak Johnson made a welcome return to action after 15 weeks out when he came on as a sub.

Two minutes into the second period, Williams had his hat-trick.

Bow turned it on from here and Luke Allen came on for his first game in a long time, looking like he had never been away.

Liam Brown made it 4-1 with his first goal for the club – and what a strike it was!

Roche found the net and then provided the assist for Mee to score with a bullet header.

Big shout out to keeper Lee Sheldon, who hasn’t been in the best of places lately but had a great game, even clearing one off the line in the dying stages.
