NORTH WALES WOMEN’S LEAGUE EAST

Berriew 0 Flint Town United 2

Rosie Hughes scored a marvellous individual goal

Two players with the initials RH delivered the goals which made sure leaders Flint maintained their 100 percent record with a sixth straight victory to remain top of East league.

Rosie Hughes and Ruby Hastings both struck in the first half for the Silkwomen, who were given a real battle by a Berriew side far better than their seven losses in a row this season suggests.

On a difficult pitch, the deadlock was broken on 19 minutes when Hughes used her pace down the left to beat two defenders before switching the ball onto her right foot and applying the calmest of finishes for her 13th goal of the season. She has also scored in six games on the bounce.

The second away goal on 41 minutes saw Ruby McGilloway break down the right, outpace the defence and cross low into the centre where Hastings finished off well from close range.

Berriew were often a threat and Flint goalkeeper Becky Bott had to produce some great saves.

Flint coach Elliott Hale said after the game: “Really tough test today again. They are the best team we’ve played – we’ve had 2 really strong games, both against Berriew. They are a great group on and off the pitch and was definitely a battle for 90 minutes.

“We had to change and adapt our formation to suit the circumstances but both teams were in the same position which meant whoever wanted it more would get something from the game. We were defensively solid and moved the ball well.”

Bellevue 1 Kinmel Bay 4

Seren Williams netted twice for Kinmel Bay

Four goals in nine minutes in the latter part of the game eventually secured maximum points for Kinmel Bay.

The game was scoreless until the 72nd minute when Georgia Williams provided the assist for Lucy Perry’s opener.

Jade McHugh brought Bellevue level just a minute later, but on 75 Bay won a penalty which Seren Williams converted.

Perry struck again after 77, Alys Marsh-Hughes assisting, then Seren Williams completed the scoring on 81.

The game’s five goals all came in that nine-minute spell between 72 and 81.

Welshpool Town 0 Denbigh Town 13

Ceri Purvis (red) scored SEVEN for Denbigh

Seven goals from Ceri Purvis, as well as a Beth Kell hat-trick, plus strikes from Megan Edwards and Lowri Claybrook secured maximum points for Denbigh in mid-Wales on a windswept afternoon.

It did not take Denbigh long to nudge themselves in front when Purvis grabbed her first on 12 minutes.

She added a second five minutes later after Natalie Harrison layed the ball to her.

Claybrook was next in line on 26 minutes, taking advantage of Kell’s delivery to sweep the ball home before Edwards made it 4-0 via an assist from skipper Elen James-Owen.

Just before the break Kell added her name to the scoresheet.

Half-time: 0-5

Within seconds of the second half starting, Purvis completed her treble before adding a fourth six minutes later.

Just before the hour mark, a quickfire trio made up of an Alex Zannetti own goal, Purvis penalty and a Kell net-finder made it ten.

Purvis went on to add another six minutes later before Kell completed a superb hat-trick with just over 20 to play.

One more from Purvis on 72 minutes made it seven for her on the day and 16 for the season.
