Happy birthday Flint Town United goalkeeper Rebecca (Becky) Bott – 26 today.

Born on October 5, 1998, Becky has been with the Silkwomen since they started up as a senior team in 2022-23.

She has made 38 appearances to date and was a major part of last season’s North Wales Women’s League East invincible title-winning squad.

Becky’s biggest asset is her bravery. She has no qualms about diving at a striker’s feet and is very good in one-on-one’s.

She is also a tremendous shot stopper, as proven in last season’s North Wales Women’s League play-off final against Pwllheli, which Flint lost 3-2 but the keeper produced some outstanding saves.

Becky began playing football aged around 9 or 10, her first club being Flint Juniors where she was an outfield player.

She began playing senior football in 2016-17 aged 17 as a goalkeeper for Kinmel Bay, who that season competed in the North Wales Women’s League with a nicely balanced side containing youth and experience.

When Flint Town United formed a women’s side in 2022, Becky began a new adventure in her football career.

Their first season was a tough learning curve, but Becky was an ever-present, making 18 league appearances and producing some good performances.

Last season, Becky played in eight of Flint’s 12 league matches, all of which they won and she kept a magnificent six clean sheets.

She sustained a broken finger late in the campaign and missed a few games, but returned for the play-off final and Betty Pickering Cup semi against Pwllheli.

Becky displays some neat ball control

She featured in 16 matches across all competitions in 2023-24 and did not concede a goal in eight of them.

Becky has started the 2024-25 season well for a Flint side promoted to the tier 2 Genero Adran North.

The Silkwomen have won both Genero Adran Trophy games and drew their league opener 0-0 at CPDM Bangor.

Have a fantastic birthday Becky
