NORTH WALES COAST EAST LEAGUE – REPORTS, DECEMBER 2

DIVISION ONE

CPD Y Glannau 5 CPD Henllan 2

Y Glannau strengthened their place in the top five and with games in hand on teams above will have ambitions to move higher.

Saturday brought the St Asaph side’s first league fixture in four weeks and they made the most of it by notching a fifth victory in seven starts.

The hosts could not have wished for a better opening.

Henllan kicked off, Glannau pressed and won the ball back, Jake Reddaway found Joey Fontana, who then delivered into the path of Harrison Bellis to finish into the bottom corner.

Although Bellis lost a number of goals through the recent resignations of Caer Clwyd and Rhyl Dragons, his latest strike still has him on a magnificent 32 for the season from 15 matches.

A goal within the first minute was the dream start, but unlike them, Y Glannau took time to really kick on from there.

In the 18th minute a Josh MacGillivray corner was headed down by Fontana, a defender cleared but had the ball already crossed the line? The referee decided no, but it must have been very close.

Unfortunately for Fontana, that was his day done as he had picked up a knock and Ash Bamber came on to replace him.

Tawse Cox soon sent a lovely ball through to Bamber, but his attempt rippled the side-netting.

Reddaway, Aaron Dodwell and Richard Peskett then linked up well down the right. If Reddaway was a little more selfish the hosts would have doubled their lead, but his pull back was well-read by the Henllan defence.

It became 2-0 after 30 minutes. A corner was headed out and Osian Williams hit a sweet strike from outside the box into the back of the net.

With a few minutes remaining in the first half it was three.

Bamber’s shot appeared to be handled by a Henllan player and the ball fell to Jordan Davies-Jones, whose effort hit a defender and came back off Davies-Jones’ knee and rolled into the back of the net.

Half time: 3-0

Early in the second half, Peskett fired over before from a great opportunity the same player hit the post.

Henllan worked hard and pulled one back from a 59th minute set-piece, Liam Davies heading home.

Y Glannau were unable to score again until eight minutes from time when Bellis tried to wriggle through a few players, then prodded the ball into the path of Luke Stanley, who slotted home calmly.

With 89 gone, Jake Edgley picked up the ball on the right and sent a superb delivery across the goal for Stanley to run on to and finish well again.

Henllan notched a second in the 90th minute from a fantastic move finished off well by Harry Payne.

Bow 4 Penrhyn Bay 0

Bow kept on the title trail by maintaining their 100% league record – a magnificent seven straight wins.

It took the Prestatyn hosts until the 39th minute to break through, Robbie Parry profiting from a Luke Smith assist to score.

One-nil it stayed up to half time, but eight minutes after the restart Joe Carey doubled the home advantage, Loui O’Carroll with the assist.

More good play from O’Carroll enabled Adam Williams to make it three on 77 minutes.

And a wonderful cross from Barry Roche late on set up Parry for a first-time finish and his 19th goal of the season.

PREMIER DIVISION

Mochdre Sports 0 Llandyrnog United 0

Visitors Llandyrnog finished up the happier side after keeping their first clean sheet in nine matches.

The reverse fixture at Cae Nant back in August was also a draw – finishing 2-2.

Despite dropping two points, the one they did get put Mochdre top on goal difference.

Penmaenmawr Phoenix 1 CPD Cerrigydrudion 1

Daniel Williams put Phoenix ahead on the half-hour but a Gavin Owen leveller on 71 minutes earned Cerrig a point.

COOKSON CUP

Llandudno Junction 4 Meliden 2 (aet)

Junction triumphed in extra time to advance to the Cookson Cup semi-finals.

After the first half ended 0-0, Dean Seager struck first for the Railwaymen five minutes after the restart.

Frankie Davies made it one-apiece with 73 on the clock, and 1-1 was the score at the end of 90 minutes.

Into extra time and Seager made it 2-1 Junction five minutes after the start of the first period.

Jack Williams notched a home third on the 100-minute mark and Harry Kirkham made sure of a home win with number four after 119, sub Ashley Lally with a consolation for Meliden on 120.

Llanfairfechan Town 1 NFA 2

A hard-fought tussle at the Recreation Ground went NFA’s way.

Antonio Jacovelli put the visitors ahead on 20 minutes, but deep into first half stoppage time, Osian Roberts equalised.

All to play for in the second half, and it was Rhyl outfit NFA who sealed it when Jay Whitehouse scored on the hour from a Ryan Hulse assist, his second of the day.
