Transfer news: youngster Chloe Evans is back where it all began!

Defender Chloe Evans has returned to where her football development first flourished.

The 20-year-old is now a CPD Y Rhyl 1879 player after ending a five-year association with NFA.

She signed for the Lilywhites on Friday and cannot wait to work under her former coach as a junior, Cassie Thomas.

“I played for Rhyl at Junior level from the under 12’s to 16’s, Cassie being my coach with the under 14’s,” said Chloe.

“I’m excited to be on board with the team/management. I’ve played with some of the girls on the team previously so I’m looking forward to playing football with them again.

“I’ve had a warm welcome from everyone which I’m thankful for.”

Rhyl 1879 currently compete in the Tier 2 Genero Adran North League, the same level as NFA.

Therefore, Chloe will have no problem adjusting to the standard of play nor the feeling of joining a new club as being a local girl, she knows nearly all the Rhyl players anyway.

She added: “Rhyl are a strong side. My hopes are to add a bit more strength to the team and hopefully improve under Cassie.”

Mainly an attacking left-back, Chloe made around 50 first team appearances for Rhyl-based NFA and is grateful to the club for helping her become the player she is today.

She was in the squad which finished runners-up in the North Wales Women League and NWCFA Coast Challenge Cup in 2021-22.

“I want to thank NFA for everything over the past 5 years,” she said. “I’ve made good memories with the club since joining at under 16’s level.

“I wish you all the best of luck for the remainder of the season.”

Chloe is the sister of Dan Evans, the former Rhyl FC and Prestatyn Town player. The pair share the same birthday of March 1, although Dan is 16 years older.

In a fine career which was at times affected by injuries, right-winger Dan started off as a teenage livewire for Rhyl FC before joining Prestatyn.

In 2007-08, he won the Cymru Alliance League title with the Seasiders and went on to make in the region of 100 Welsh Premier appearances for the club.

He was also part of the history-making Prestatyn squad which lifted the 2012-13 Welsh Cup, beating Bangor City 3-1 in extra time at the Racecourse, Wrexham.

Dan no longer plays football, but has carved out a reputation as a top DJ touring all over.

He sent Chloe a good luck message this week on her move to Rhyl 1879.

Chloe’s dad Michael (Taffy) is also a big fan of Rhyl.
