NWCFA MABON SCAFFOLDING JUNIOR CUP ROUND TWO REPORTS

Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs 1 Rhos United 1
(Blaenau won 3-0 on penalties)

Blaenau’s superiority from the penalty spot earned them a place in the NWCFA Junior Cup quarter-finals.

It looked like North Wales Coast East Division One visitors Rhos might be going through after Bret Durkan gave them a 73rd minute lead.

However, Sion Roberts levelled on 85 minutes, and with no further score in extra time, a shoot-out was required to decide the winner.

Quarrymen keeper Bradley Roberts saved two kicks and Rhos missed a third, while successful pens from Joe Dukes-Morgan, Aled Ellis and Tomos Williams saw the hosts prevail.

Bontnewydd 5 CPD Mountain Rangers 1

Luke Phillips was a hat-trick star for a Bontnewydd side which comfortably advanced to the last eight.

Phillips netted on two, 25 and 37 minutes, the latter from the penalty spot, while Ianto Ap Rhun added a double, Dylan Owen with an injury-time consolation for Rangers.

CPD Cefni 1 Llandudno Amateurs 4

Joe Jones was on target twice for victorious North Wales Coast East Division One outfit Amateurs, last season’s Junior Cup runners-up.

Jones found the net on three minutes and doubled his tally in added time.

Substitute Sean Sharp and Morgan Davies added further away goals, 16-year-old Dylan Griffith levelling for Cefni in the first half.

CPD Gaerwen 5 Llangoed & District 3 (aet)

Nathan Moore scored four times as Gaerwen edged an eight-goal thriller at Treborth against Anglesey rivals Llangoed.

Anthony Williams put the visitors ahead on 12 minutes, but Moore equalised just before the break.

Jay Finter restored Llangoed’s lead on 61, then Charlie McKenna made it 3-1 after 65.

Gaerwen kept battling and Moore notched his second on 81 before Callum Thomas made it all-square on 85, necessitating extra time.

Moore proved to be the hero, scoring on 102 and 105 minutes to send the Auctioneers into the last eight.

Llanystumdwy 7 Rhyl Dragons 1

A great day for the Parry’s at Parc Dwyfor, Darren notching a hat-trick and player-manager Sion also on target as Llanystumdwy hit a magnificent seven against visitors Rhyl Dragons.

Darren Parry scored on 12, 18 and 44 minutes in a first-half finishing masterclass.

After the interval, Owen Pritchard struck in the 47th minute, sub Guto Griffith made the scoresheet on 77, sub Sion Parry netted after 82 and fellow replacement Iwan Richards completed the rout with 86 on the clock.

Jack Gibbon converted a 55th minute penalty for the Dragons, who had Wayne Evans dismissed for a second yellow card after 84.

Grassroots North Wales carried a full report on this game on Saturday evening.

Bow scorers: Loui O’Carroll (6 minutes), Kyle Robb 12, Robbie Parry 31, Mike Jones 43, Joe Carey 50, Greg Hall 70 and Richard Hill 88.
