Two former Tier 2 Genero Adran North title winners have joined CPDM Y Felinheli’s ever-flourishing squad.
Sioned Phillips and Ceri Slaney have transferred to Cae Seilo from Llandudno.
Both are versatile attacking players who can operate anywhere across the front line, although Phillips has been signed as a No 9 and Slaney as a winger,
The pair add to a number of classy captures made by Felin manager Aaron Jones Evans over the summer, which include the returning Catrin Evans and Jenna Allsup, as well as pivotal midfield operator Hana Wellings from Llanystumdwy.
Phillips and Slaney will only add to the attacking strength of a Felinheli side which has won its first four matches of 2023-24.
Sioned, 24, is a former pupil of Ysgol Brynrefail, Llanrug, where she won two Welsh Cups with the school football team at under-13 and under-14 level.
She joined CPDM Bethel in 2016 and was part of the 2018-19 side which jointly won the North Wales Women’s League title.
Sioned went on to form a women’s team at Llanberis in 2019-20, where she was player-manager. Despite showing promise in NWWFL Division Two, the team only lasted a season, which was shortened due to Covid.
In 2021-22, Sioned was in the Llandudno squad which lifted the inaugural tier 2 Genero Adran North title, laying on the winning goal in the team’s final day championship-clinching 3-2 success over Wrexham.
Tudno went on to land the North Wales Coast Challenge Cup.
She remained with the Seasiders last season and began the current campaign with the club, but has now decided to join Felinheli.
Sioned is also a gifted rugby player, usually operating at fly-half.
She has represented Welsh Colleges, Scarlets Under-18’s, RGC, Coleg Menai and Caernarfon, and also played rugby league for the newly-formed North Wales Crusaders this summer.
Ceri, 26, is a serial winner having scooped numerous trophies and medals in her football career.
Her early football experiences included playing for Llangefni Girls and she later represented the Coleg Menai Academi.
Ceri began her senior days with a strong Caernarfon Town squad which won the Betty Pickering Cup in 2015-16, then the following season cruised to the North Wales Women’s League title and retained the Pickering Cup.
Caernarfon returned to the Welsh Premier and Ceri put in some great performances despite the team struggling in 2017-18.
The Canaries’ problems worsened in 2018-19 and they resigned from the WPWL after a handful of games.
Summer 2019 brought an unforgettable experience for Ceri as she was included in the Ynys Môn squad for the Inter-Games football tournament, which was played on Anglesey.
Ynys Môn had no form to speak of in past competitions, but on this occasion, helped by tournament top-scorer Lexi Crawley’s five goals, they made it all the way to the final, losing narrowly 2-1 to Isle of Man. Ceri played in every match and scooped a silver medal.
After shining in the Games, Ceri became one of a number of star players signed by the island’s then sole women’s team Amlwch Town for 2019-20.
Despite the season being shortened by the coronavirus pandemic, Amlwch still won the North Wales Women’s League Division Two title.
After the 2020-21 season was cancelled because of Covid, Ceri emerged as a Llandudno player in 2021-22 and was part of the squad which won the Genero Adran North title.
She also scored direct from a corner in the NWCFA Challenge Cup final 4-3 victory over NFA.
Last season, Ceri had a spell with Llanfairfechan Town, returned to Llandudno this season, but has now decided on a move to Felinheli.
