FAW WOMEN’S CUP ROUND TWO – SUNDAY, OCTOBER 9

Amlwch Town 0
Llandudno 7 (Dutton 3, Gibbard 2, F Owen, Slaney)

Seven-goal Llandudno’s class shone through in this Welsh Cup tie against a lower-level Amlwch who nonetheless produced a very spirited and determined performance at Lon Bach.

Both teams made a brisk start, but it was Tudno who broke the deadlock on 11 minutes, Jasmin Dutton’s shot flying in over keeper Ceri Pritchard’s head.

Dutton struck again four minutes later, capitalising on a scramble from a Mari Gibbard corner.

On the half hour Gibbard and Ffion Owen combined well for number three. Gibbard fed the ball through the left-hand side of midfield for Owen to slot into the bottom right-hand corner.

Ceri Slaney made it four against her former club in the 37th minute.

Play started from the keeper to defence then through midfield where Sioned Phillips carried the ball down the wing to cross into the box for Slaney to find the top corner.

Half-time: 4-0

Three minutes into the second half, Mari Gibbard added a fifth, slotting home after playing a nice one-two with Maddie Williams.

Dutton then combined nicely with Gibbard, who curled the ball around the keeper for her seventh goal of the season.

Would either Dutton or Gibbard now reach the hat-trick?

The answer came a minute from time when Becky Jarvis-Evans and Dutton combined down the left.

Jarvis-Evans slotted the ball through to Dutton, who turned quickly and fired home superbly to complete a treble.

Player of the Match was Llandudno’s Maddie Williams.
