LOCK STOCK ARDAL NORTHERN LEAGUE CUP ROUND ONE

Bethesda Athletic 2 Llangefni Town 1

Revenge for Bethesda who recently lost 2-1 at home to Ardal North West leaders Llangefni in a league game.

It was a different story three weeks later in the Ardal Northern League Cup, Pesda taking a 19th minute lead when Kane Roberts raced clear in the box and finished calmly past keeper Cameron Jones.

Soon after the visitors were down to 10 men when James McMinimee was shown a red card.

Match-winner Noa Hughes

Nonetheless, it was Town who were to score next, Osian Jones finding the net on 39 minutes via a Gari Owen assist.

It was a great battle from thereon, but Athletic scored the deciding goal on 61 minutes when Dan Hughes played the ball back to Noa Hughes, whose strike from more than 20 yards got past the diving Jones.

Joe Todd also missed a penalty for the home side.

Bow Street 4 Radnor Valley 1

Substitute Iolo ap Dafydd netted twice for Bow in a tie that stood 1-1 at half time.

Ben Davies converted an early penalty for the hosts, but the same player missed another spot-kick before Rees Morris levelled before half time.

Ap Dafydd’s double and an Ifan Burrell goal secured the spoils for Bow after the break.

Builth Wells 3 Penycae 1

Jamie Evans, Joe Wozencraft and Chris Roff bagged the goals that mattered for Builth, Gary Evans responding for visitors Penycae.

Cefn Albion 2 Dolgellau AA 1

All the drama came late at Clywedog Park.

Substitute Nathan Williams put Albion through to the next round with a 92nd minute winner.

Dion Gibbins had earlier nudged the hosts in front on 84, only for Gerwyn Williams to equalise after 86.

Hawarden Rangers 2 CPD Y Felinheli 3

PATRICK CAIN captures a goal from Hawarden Rangers v Y Felinheli

Gruff John’s 80th minute strike edged Felinheli through to the next stage.

Iwan Edwards gave Felin a 35th minute lead, James Ratcliffe levelled on 43, but early in the second half Dylan Jones restored the visitors’ advantage.

A Ratcliffe penalty on 62 made it 2-2, but John was there to clinch it from an Edwards assist.

Holyhead Hotspur 2 Brickfield Rangers 0

Second half goals from the in-form Dylan Summers-Jones and a crucial second by Cory Williams delivered victory for Hotspur.

Three minutes after the restart Summers-Jones’ first effort was blocked but he drilled his second attempt into the bottom-left corner to make it 1-0.

Summers-Jones turned provider in the 79th minute when he broke down the right and crossed into the box for Williams to add a second.

Mitchell Jones was named man of the match for the home side.

Llanfair United 3 Llandrindod Wells 3 (Llandrindod won 4-1 on pens)

Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant 1 Penrhyncoch 0

Joe Vaughan’s 11th minute goal was enough to secure a slightly unexpected win for Llanrhaeadr.

Llanrwst United 4 Saltney Town 2

Callum Parry was a hat-trick hero for Llanrwst, who won despite having to play more than half-an-hour with 10 men after Matt Mullender’s red card.

Parry struck on 11, 29 and 70 minutes, Sam Thomas also on the mark for the Rwsters, while David Walkiewicz and John King hit back for the Bordermen.

Llanuwchllyn 3 Llansantffraid Village 1

Another good result for Llanuwchllyn, Meilir Williams (2) and Tomos Roberts supplying the goals which sent them through, Khyam Wyton replying.

Llay Welfare 3 CPD Y Rhyl 1879 0

Perhaps a somewhat surprising scoreline in some people’s eyes, but no-one who has seen Llay play this season will have been overly shocked.

This tie brought together fourth and second in Ardal North West, and it was Welfare who deservedly took the honours, Rhys Lloyd, Max Peate and substitute Ethan Simpson with the second-half goals.

Rhyl’s Kieran Ellis was sent off for a second yellow card in the 95th minute.

Managers Mike Gadie and Steven Halliwell are doing a fantastic job at The Ring this term.

CPD Pwllheli 1 Nantlle Vale 2

Carl Jones struck first for Pwllheli, but goals from Caio Inch and Jamie Jones put Nantlle into a half-time lead.

On the stroke of half time, Vale’s Jamie Thomas was red-carded, but the 10 men held on for the entire second period to make it into the next round.

Rhos Aelwyd 6 Welshpool Town 0

Six of the best from Rhos, James Rumsey (2), Aled Parry, Sam Baldam, Ryan Jenkins and Tom Smith (penalty) combining to thrash Welshpool, who had Jake Mann red-carded on 72 minutes.
