Caernarfon Town bash Newtown jinx and sit top of the Cymru Premier!

At last! The jinx is over!
After eight successive defeats at the hands of Newtown, Caernarfon have laid the ghost and conquered the Robins.
Not since September 20, 2020 – a 3-2 Cymru Premier victory at Latham Park – had the Canaries beaten the men from Powys.
One draw and eight losses on the bounce since, including a 5-3 heart-breaker in a Euro play-off final, Town took the Oval field tonight determined to maintain their fine start to the season which began with an impressive 4-0 thrashing of newly-promoted Colwyn Bay last weekend.
Newtown had a big early chance when the returning Jason Oswell shot goalwards, but the ball was headed off the line brilliantly by defender Ryan Austin.
Caernarfon steadily got into the game. Darren Thomas lashed a beauty over the bar, then five minutes before the break great work from Marc Williams set up Phil Mooney to sidefoot home from six yards.
Ryan Sears and Henry Cowans had clear shooting opportunities for the visitors after the break, but both were off target.
Canaries striker Adam Davies used strength in the box to get a shot away, but his attempt flew high over the crossbar.
The hosts suffered a blow in the 82nd minute when Davies was sent off for a second yellow card, the front man continuing to play on and find the net after the referee had blown for offside.
Yet it was the 10-men who scored next, substitute Louis Lloyd netting in added time from a rebound after Williams’ effort was cleared off the line to give Richard Davies’ side a two-goal lead.
Ten minutes into overtime Aaron Williams grabbed a consolation for Newtown, turning in a Louis Robles drive from close range, but it was the Cofis who celebrate a second league win in a row which puts them, temporarily at least, in top spot.
