North Wales Div Two – Brymbo 2nds make it 11 straight wins, Wilson hits ton for Hawarden

NORTH WALES LEAGUE DIVISION TWO REPORTS – JULY 1

Brymbo 2nd XI (12) 162-7 Mochdre 2nd XI (3) 160-10

Opener Joss Roberts scored a crucial 79 not out as mighty Brymbo seconds made it 11 straight wins and stretched their lead at the Division Two summit to 40 points.

The Steelmen won the toss and put Mochdre seconds into bat, the visitors being bowled out for 160 in 40 overs, skipper Dan Miller best with 27, while for the hosts, Ross Roberts claimed 3-29, Gareth Boys 2-23 and Joss Roberts 2-34.

In reply, Brymbo lost four of their first five batsmen for a grand total of two runs, but Joss Roberts stayed strong and formed good stands with Boys (28) and Chris McCartney (24).

Joss Roberts was still there at the end unbeaten on 79 as the home side reached 162-7 in 37.4 overs to secure a 12-3 points verdict.

Bangor 2nd XI (12) 165-6 St Asaph 2nd XI (3) 164-9

A good weekend for Bangor CC with the second team emulating their firsts with another entry in the W column.

The Citizens won the toss and opted to field, limiting St Asaph seconds to 164-9 off 40 overs, David Lloyd (45) and Roger Cloete (34) the chief contributors, Peter Jones 2-18 off eight for Bangor, who spread the wickets around evenly.

It was no easy feat for the Ty Newydd team to reach the finish line, but they got there on 165-6 in 38.4, Nadeem Rehman 33, Jones 27 and Pavan Zala 26.

Ieuan Jones picked up 2-30 for Saints.

Bersham (11) 171-7 Mold 2nd XI (4) 160-10

Number three bat Maneesha Ayomal Nissanka produced a fine knock of 74 which made all the difference in delivering victory for Bersham.

The home side, asked to bat, posted 174-7 off their 40 overs, no-one else getting near Nissanka’s score, while Aled Proffit took 2-54 for Mold.

The visitors pushed hard to outscore their hosts, but ended up 160 all out, openers Chris Boulton 65 and Craig Roberts 34.

Sameera-Sam-De Silva snapped up 3-18 and Steffan Lloyd 3-28 for Bersham.

Buckley 2nd XI (0) 129-10 Hawarden Park 2nd XI (15) 232-5

Opener Craig Wilson was Hawarden’s hero with a star innings of 102, while Antonio Carrino hit an impressive 81 as the visitors posted an awesome total of 232-5, Abbey Mayers 2-23 for the hosts.

Buckley were then dismissed for 129, Johnny Hewitt topping the chart with 45, Haseeb Hanif Bikya taking a magical 4-9 off eight for the Park, Tom Wilson bagging 3-30.

Gresford 2nd XI (2) 42-10 Carmel and District (13) 43-5

Fifteen wickets fell for just 85 runs in total at Clappers Lane where Carmel came away with the spoils.

Carmel won the toss and chose to field, a good decision as they rolled over Gresford seconds for 42, Amer Jamil 4-1, Ben Sim 3-12 and Danny Owens 2-9.

The visitors lost five batsmen in reply, but made it home on 43-5, Ryan Roberts 22 not out, Harry Morris 4-17 for the Colliers.

Llanrwst (11) 149-7 Pontblyddyn 2nd XI (4) 131-6

Aron Hughes made 54 for Llanrwst

Captain Aron Hughes hit a vital 54 as his Llanrwst side triumphed by 18 runs at Parc Gwydir.

Ethan Roberts grabbed 2-26 for Pont as the hosts, invited to bat, set a modest 149-7.

The visitors were restricted to 131-6, Dave Evans a match-best battling 60 and Phil Davies 36, Alwyn Williams 4-26 and Aron Hughes completing a good personal display with 2-22.
