NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE DIV TWO REPORTS – JUNE 24

Bangor 2nd XI (15) 57-1 Hawarden Park 2nd XI (0) 56-10

A short-lived encounter at Ty Newydd saw Bangor seconds romp to victory by nine wickets.

Put into bat, Hawarden Park seconds were blown away in just 18 overs for 56, Christopher Dawson taking 3-10, Mehul Ahir 3-19 and Ollie Dawson 2-9 for the hosts.

Bangor reached 57-1 in 19 overs, Chris Barry 25 not out and Sohaib Khan 22.

Bersham (15) 73-1 Carmel and District (0) 71-10

Five-wicket heroes Varuna Kahakachi and Suresh Lakmal Koswaththage ensured Bersham made light work of visitors Carmel.

Kahakachi scooped 5-12 and Koswaththage 5-16 as the away side were bowled out for just 71.

Bersham hit back with 73-1 in 14.4 overs, Sameera-Sam-De Silva 32 not out and Maneesha Ayomal Nissanka 28 no,

Buckley 2nd XI (1) 142-9 Gresford 2nd XI (14) 143-2

Skipper George Morris hit a commanding 59 not out as Gresford seconds cruised to an eight-wicket triumph at Lane End.

Invited to bat, Bucks were glad of 50 down the order from Tom Pool ensuring they set a respectable 142-9, Harry Morris 3-22 for the visitors.

Gresford got to 143-2 off 32, George Morris’ half ton added to by a useful 36 from opener Gez Jones, Joe Hogg grabbing 2-31 for the hosts.

Llanrwst (1) 46-10 Brymbo 2nd XI (14) 48-2

While their first team lost an unbeaten record at the weekend there were slip-ups for Brymbo seconds as they blitzed their way to victory at Llanrwst in a match that lasted less than 35 overs.

Inserted by the opposition, the Rwsters were rolled over for just 46 in 22.2 overs, Sam Aplin claiming 4-1, William Roberts 3-6 and Jack Whitley 2-15 for the Steelmen.

Christopher Craven ended on 38 not out as Brymbo reached 48-2 in 12.2 for a 14-1 points verdict.

Mold 2nd XI (2) 155-10 Mochdre 2nd XI (13) 222-5

While Saturday was a day of generally low totals in Division Two, Mochdre seconds proved the exception.

Electing to bat first at Chester Road, skipper Scott Roberts made 66, Daniel Phillips 51 and Finlay Jones 38 not out, Craig Roberts 2-24 and Oliver Jones 2-41 for the hosts.

Mochdre’s 221-5 was always going to be too steep for Mold, who nonetheless responded with a decent 155 all out, captain Chris Boulton 44 and Luca Davies 33.

Alex J Davies took 3-19 and Sean McHale 2-33 for the winners.

St Asaph 2nd XI (2) 182-2 Pontblyddyn 2nd XI (13) 186-4

Openers Gethin Thomas (66) and Nick Thomas (54) put Pontblyddyn well on the way to victory with a first-wicket stand of 111.

St Asaph were put in and concocted a good total of 182-2 off 40 overs, Ieuan Jones 63 not out, skipper Ben Murphy 44 and Elliot Goddard 38 not out. Jones and Goddard put on an unbroken stand of 84 for the third wicket.

Pont got home on 186-4 from 35, Dave Evans adding 36 not out to the hundred-plus partnership of the Thomas openers, David Lloyd 2-39 and Jack Griffiths 2-41 for Saints.
