Meet the Ynys Môn men’s football squad travelling to take part in the 2023 Guernsey Island Games XIX.
Former Llanfairpwll and Conwy Borough goalkeeper who joined Bangor 1876 in summer 2022.
Made 21 appearances for the 1876 squad in the season they earned promotion to tier 2.
Tremendous shot-stopper who signed for 1876 from disbanded Bodedern Athletic early last season. Went on to appear in 15 matches for the Bangor side.
Won the tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier Division title with Boded in 2021-22, has played in the Welsh Premier for Prestatyn Town and Cymru North for Holyhead Hotspur.
Carl has featured in two previous Island Games for Anglesey.
Energetic, very consistent full-back or midfielder who spent many seasons at Holyhead Hotspur before moving to Caergybi during 2021-22 and then last term became part of Trearddur Bay’s tier 5 double-winning squad, where his brother Mel is assistant player-manager.
One of the best defenders on the island, Gari was part of the 2019 Inter-Games tournament winning squad.
Gari has been a solid and reliable defender for Llangefni Town for a number of years, representing the club at tier 2 and 3 levels.
Tall, uncompromising centre-back who was a star performer in Bangor 1876’s promotion squad last term and was named in the Ardal North West Team of the Season.
Arrived at 1876 in summer 2021 from Conwy Borough.
Came through youth system at Oldham Athletic, where he was called up for the Wales Under-17 team. Has also played for Colwyn Bay, Porthmadog, Glantraeth and Holyhead Hotspur.
Highly-rated 23-year-old who played a big part in the Ynys Môn gold medal victory in 2019.
Right-sided defender who can also operate in midfield, Cai played for Llangefni Town and Holyhead Hotspur in the Cymru North before being snapped up by Cymru Premier club Caernarfon Town in 2023.
He has made 12 first-team league appearances for the Cofis.
Inspirational captain of a Glantraeth side which grew in stature in the tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier Division over the 2022-23 season.
Joined Glan in 2020 and has developed into a key defender for the club, winning the Most Man of the Match awards last term.
Former Bangor University player.
Powerful midfield performer who can also operate at the back.
Had spells with Pentraeth, Bodedern Athletic, Mynydd Llandegai and CPD Y Rhyl 1879 before rejoining Llangefni Town in 2022-23.
Featured in 33 games across all competitions for Cefni last season and scored in a famous 2-1 win at Bangor 1876, the Anglesey side inflicting a first-ever home league defeat on Michael Johnston’s team.
Gerwyn was part of the Ynys Môn Inter-Games title winning squad of 2019. He hails from Llansadwrn, the same home village as Anglesey football greats Corrig McGonigle and Matthew Hughes.
This lively defender/midfielder joined Trearddur Bay last season and won the North Wales Coast West Division One title and league cup double, featuring in 29 matches for Nick Dumbarton’s aces.
The previous season, 20-year-old Sol made a big impact with Cemaes Bay
Attacking player who starred for Llandegai last season with 23 goals in all competitions.
A former Llandudno and Welsh schoolboys player, Osian netted 14 for Mynydd in 2021-22, so had established himself as a very reliable marksman and fully worth of a place in the Ynys Môn squad this year.
Highly-rated 19-year-old who has come on in leaps and bounds as a Llanfairpwll player over the past two seasons.
Before stepping up to senior football, Cian was a member of the Llandudno FC Academy Under-16 side.
Notched nine goals last term for Llanfairpwll in the tier 5 North Wales Coast West Division One.
Considered one of Anglesey’s brightest young talents.
In a struggling Holyhead Town side in 2021-22, this 19-year-old livewire netted 17 times in 28 appearances.
He began the 2022-23 campaign with the Harbourmen, but joined Trearddur Bay in the August and scored a hat-trick in debut – against Holyhead Town!
In a double-winning season for Bay, Kaine registered 17 goals.
Midfielder who is just 19 but has gained masses of experience with Llangefni over the past two seasons in the tier 2 and 3 Cymru North and Ardal North West.
Another whose talents part-developed at the Llandudno FC Academy, but was also a title-winner with Llangefni’s Under-16’s before signing for the first team in 2020.
Midfield dynamo who was part of the phenomenal Bodedern Athletic tier 4 title-winning side of 2021-22.
Went to the USA to play for Onondaga University in New York State.before returning home earlier this year and signing for his first club Llangoed. Has since moved on to Holyhead Hotspur. Central midfielder who operates box-to-box
Another central-midfield schemer who had spells with Pentraeth, Bangor City and Conwy Borough before landing at Holyhead Hotspur last season.
Walsh featured in 26 Cymru North matches for Darren Garmey’s side in a difficult campaign which unfortunately ended in relegation.
One of Anglesey’s all-time greats who will be competing in his fourth Island Games.
Scored the winner in the 2019 Inter-Games final when Ynys Môn beat Guernsey 2-1 at Holyhead’s New Stadium.
Mel has been a lethal marksman over the years for Holyhead Hotspur and lately Trearddur Bay, while he has also worn the colours of Bangor City, Gaerwen, Porthmadog and Llangefni Town.
Will be player-manager in Guernsey.
Another star from 2019 who equalised in the final for Ynys Môn with a stunning volley in the second half.
Former Holyhead Hotspur star Liam has just had a tremendous first season at Bangor 1876, the winger scoring 22 times as the fan-owned club clinched promotion to the tier 2 Cymru North at the first attempt.
This man could really make his mark in the tournament if he hits top form.
A prolific marksman with Cemaes Bay, Reynolds struck 28 goals last season and 40 in 2021-22.
Before that he made an impact at CPD Aberffraw.

Scored three goals in the 2019 Inter-Games Tournament, including two in the 2-1 semi-final success over Shetland Islands.
His striking talents first emerged under the late Sean Brett at Menai Bridge Tigers before he was captured by Bangor City, where first team opportunities were fairly limited.
Went on to represent Caernarfon Town in the Cymru Premier, then had a spell in the Cymru North with Colwyn Bay before last season joining Llandudno, where he scored 10 goals.
