Llanrug added to a long and proud club honours list when their reserves lifted the league cup at Lon Groes, Gaerwen, on Sunday.
Having finished a very commendable third in the league, Iwan Machno Lloyd’s side wanted to go one better in the cup.
They came up against a St Asaph Reserves outfit aiming to add to the club’s silverware list this season, which includes a stunning treble for the first team in tier 4.
Sam Griffiths produced an early goal for Llanrug, applying a fourth-minute finish from a Sion Evans assist.
Saints were soon back on terms when Jackson Brewerton scored in the fifth minute.
United edged back in front in the 34th minute when Sion Evans converted a penalty.
Llanrug took a big step towards lifting the trophy midway through the second half when Griffiths notched his second of the day and 15th goal of the season.
And Ywain Jones made extra sure of a United victory when he scored from the spot in the 74th minute.
St Asaph had Jacob Hildebrandt red-carded deep into added time.
