It may have come more than four months later than planned, but Penmaenmawr Phoenix Reserves have secured the double.
Crowned the inaugural North Wales Coast Reserve League champions back in early April, Phoenix never got to play their league cup final against Llanrug last season due to time constraints.
It meant the showpiece being carried over to 2022-23, but the game finally went ahead on Thursday at Lon Groes, Gaerwen – and what an occasion it was!
Llanrug led 2-0 at half time and looked destined to crush Pen’s double dream, but Aaron Keating’s men turned the tables to score three times and clinch the cup.
Tomi Llywelyn and Ywain Jones both netted in the opening half to put United in command.
However, Pen fought back after the turnaround, Matty Roberts on target and top-scorer Harry Benjamin striking twice to seal the win inside 90 minutes.
