What is happening with the NWCFA Intermediate Cup final and the Coast Reserves League?

Penmaenmawr Phoenix Reserves won the North Wales Coast Reserve Division title last season

Two key issues are set to be raised at a full meeting of the North Wales Coast Football Association tomorrow evening (Tuesday).

Agenda items will include the long-delayed staging of the NWCFA Intermediate Cup Final between Bangor 1876 and CPD Y Rhyl 1879, plus the viability of running a North Wales Coast Reserve Division this season.

Last season, eight clubs competed in the inaugural reserves league, which was won by Penmaenmawr Phoenix.

The league ran its course despite long gaps in the fixture list due to the small number of teams.

To date, nine teams have shown an interest to enter in 2022-23- Bontnewydd, Bow FC, Kinmel Bay, Llanrug, Llanberis, Llanfairfechan Town, Penmaenmawr Phoenix, Nefyn United and St Asaph City.

The news is not so good for the FAW Cymru Reserve League, with Holyhead Hotspur, Llangefni Town and Porthmadog all deciding last month not to enter teams in the North West division.

Meanwhile, the Intermediate Cup final, due to take place at the end of last season, remains unplayed. The plan was to rearrange for July, but we are into August now and still no date or venue is decided.

One option being looked at is now holding the final at either Bangor or Rhyl’s ground, as the NWCFA is finding difficulty confirming another venue.
