Llangefni rounded off their home league fixtures in style with a 4-1 beating of Denbigh Town.
In front of a crowd of 104, the pressure was on Cefni to make sure they entertained. And entertain they did, with Marissa George and Hannah Owen causing all sorts of trouble down the left-hand side for Denbigh.
After 15 minutes Owen showed some great feet and was taken down in the box. Up stepped Ffion Thomas to send the hosts ahead from the spot.
Denbigh responded well and after 10 minutes the dangerous youngster Esra Gunes finished well to bring the visitors level.
Five minutes before half time, though, captain Nia Ginnelly sent a perfectly weighted ball over the top for Jen Cox to run through and finish emphatically into the top corner for her 27th goal of the season, which gave Llangefni the lead into the break.
Llangefni started the second half brightly and after 5 minutes Ginnelly again hit a great free kick into the box which caused panic, Cox got her head to it first and it directed to Ellie Coulson to stab home and give the home side a two-goal cushion.
Cefni remained on top with Jess Jones stretching the Denbigh defence and showing some great moments again.
In the 83rd minute Cox was sent through, the keeper rushed out and left an open goal. On a really tight angle Cox could not direct the ball in and Denbigh’s Carla Rizzi cleared, but only as far as Ffion Thomas, who struck home to make it 4-1.
On then came Lara Cain, Sharlee Owen, Cara Hughes and Kaitlin Toulmin to make sure the points stayed at Llangefni and end the season’s home fixtures on a high.
Manager Dan Gregg said: “Really good performance tonight and some way to sign off at home. Utterly shocked at how many people came out to watch tonight and so happy we could give a good account of ourselves.
“In the words of Ffion Thomas…”one last dance” next week now and hopefully top off what has been an incredible season of improvement from this group.”
