NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS – MAY 13

DIVISION ONE

Bethesda (4) 187-8 Conwy (11) 201-7

Strong upper-order batting enabled Conwy to set a match-winning total in a tight battle at Parc Villa.

Put into bat, the visitors posted 201-7 off 45 overs, Evan Williams (42) and Dan Davies (41) best contributors in an innings full of useful knocks.

Andrew Day was Pesda’s most successful bowler with 3-43.

The hosts gave it a good go in reply, but finished short on 187-8 despite a fine 57 not out from Ben Parker, plus 45 by opener Matthew Harrington and Ashley Rowlands’ powerful 38 off 24 balls, including three sixes.

Guto Davies returned most impressive figures for Conwy of 2-20.

Connah’s Quay (15) 84-0 Marchwiel and Wrexham (0) 81-10

It was a good decision by Connah’s Quay to field first with visitors Marchwiel and Wrexham collapsing to 81 all out.

Joshua Clarke scooped 3-17 and Mali Auty 3-25 for the hosts, James Du Toit collecting 2-7 and Darren Leach conceding just three runs off nine overs, taking one wicket.

Quay coasted to 84-0 in 13.3 overs, Du Toit leading the charge with 59 not out off 47 deliveries with five fours and four sixes, Auty 15 no.

Dolgellau (13) 130-4 Hawarden Park (2) 129-8

After limiting Hawarden Park to a relatively low total, Dolgellau went on to win comfortably.

The visitors won the toss and chose to bat, but could only muster 129-8 off 45 overs, openers Owen Skillander (26) and skipper Campbell Marr (25) putting on 64 before the bowlers got on top.

Jaco Oosthuizen nabbed 2-19 and Sion Francis 2-37 for the home side, who went on to reach 130-4 off 33.3, Morgan Yorke (50 not out) and Oosthuizen (27 no) forming an unbroken stand of 71 for the fifth wicket.

Ian Martin took 3-26 and Michael Wootton 1-1 off five for the visitors.

Llay Welfare (3) 98-10 Gwersyllt Park (12) 101-6

Neil Pearson’s fine form continued for Gwersyllt as he grabbed 5-14 in his team’s win at The Ring.

Pearson’s return came off 6.3 overs, Llay being dismissed for just 98 after they were put in, Iroshan De Silva taking 2-13 and Daniel Jones 2-27.

It was not quite a stroll in the park for Gwersyllt when they batted, but they managed to get home on 101-6 off 29.4, De Silva making 37, veteran David Phennah 4-30 for the hosts.

Menai Bridge 2nd XI (11) 205-8 Abergele (4) 195-10

Despite a club best 95 from opener Mark Everall, Abergele were not quite able to reach the winning post at Tyn-y-Caeau.

Hosts Menai Bridge seconds called the coin correctly and batted, setting a formidable 205-8 off their 45 overs, Matt Bixby 53, Ben Roberts 43 and Edward Gadsby 34, Edward Rooney gathering 3-37 and Lewis Tolond 2-29 for the visitors.

Everall’s effort saw him finish just five short of a ton in reply, but he lacked partners who could make a crucial contribution, Karl Higgins best with 22.

Liam Stone produced Menai’s most eye-catching return of 2-28 as they took the points 11-4 after a 10-run triumph.

Northop 2nd XI (13) 144-10 Buckley (2) 69-10

Asked to bat at Flint Road, Northop seconds were dismissed for 144, Chris Brooks best of the batting with 35.

Mike Wootton took an impressive 4-12 off six, Lee Taylor snapped up 3-34 and Mathew Edge 2-17 for the visitors.

Bucks were then blasted away for just 69. No doubt the loss of so many key players to other clubs this season has hit them hard.

Skipper Louis Parry made 25, while for Northop, Sion Ferguson pouched 4-16, Joe Griffiths 3-15 and Sandeep Anantharaman 3-18.

DIVISION TWO

Bangor 2nd XI (15) 209-1 Mold 2nd XI (0) 73-10
