Your Space, an autism charity that has Wrexham AFC hero Paul Mullin as its patron are hosting a T20 fundraising cricket match at Chirk CC on Sunday, 25th June.
The game will be between a Chirk XI and The Metronomes, a travelling charity cricket club who hail from far and wide fundraising for autism.
The Metronomes were founded in 2022 by husband and wife, Michael and Bex Coleman from Northumberland, who have children on the autism spectrum.
In their first match on 1st August 2022, The Metronomes played Spen Victoria Cricket Club. One of The Metronomes team that day is a current Brazilian female cricket international.
They raised £3,750 from this partly due to a popular online cricket memorabilia auction that contained items from many legends of the sport both past and present, including current England and Wales Test stars along with other internationals.
The Metronomes also have a very active social media following, some of whom are planning from all over to play at Holyhead Road, Chirk Cricket Club, on June 25.
Your Space, who cover the North East Wales and North Shropshire areas, would like to thank event sponsors, namely:

Anise Wrexham
Allington Hughes
Caffi Wylfa Chirk

Speaking about the T20 cricket match, Your Space fundraiser Andrew Edwards said: “On a personal level, It will be wonderful to mix two of my passions in life in cricket and Your Space. I have been working on organising this event since July 2022.
“Without the assistance and enthusiasm of Michael Coleman from The Metronomes, who has answered my hundreds of messages immediately, our sponsors, Suzanne Newall from Chirk AAA Club and Tim Flack from Chirk Cricket Club for allowing us to use Holyhead Road for the day, the event would not go ahead.
“I am so looking forward to meeting The Metronomes as they seem like a great bunch of people who share my personal and Your Space’s values regarding inclusion and understanding of those on the spectrum in society.”
Recently, Your Space announced that Wrexham AFC’s star player Paul Mullin is its new charity patron.
Mullin’s two goals helped secure the 3-1 weekend victory over Boreham Wood which clinched Wrexham the National League title and a return to the Football League after a 15-year absence.
The former Morecambe, Swindon Town, Tranmere Rovers and Cambridge United striker has netted 64 National League goals in 83 appearances since signing for Wrexham in 2021.
Your Space (Marches) Ltd is a small charity (Number 1153848) with a big reach across Wrexham, Flintshire, Denbighshire and Shropshire that supports children with Autistic Spectrum Condition and their families.
We began as a pilot activity and social club for children and young people aged 8-19 who were on the Autistic Spectrum in 2011.
Your Space increased its clubs and became its own not for profit company in 2012 and a registered charity in 2013. The charity’s first base was at Black Park in Chirk.
The activities are held at different locations in Wrexham County Borough. We are mainly based at the Resource Centre in Llay, Wrexham with additional community activities within the wider geographical area in North East Wales and North Shropshire.
Activities run throughout the year outside school hours.
For our young people we provide high quality, engaging sports, social and arts activities as after school and holiday clubs. For our families we deliver monthly activities that the whole family can join such as our Family Swim Night, Sibling Sundays and Family Days Out.
Our Family Outreach Team offers parents and carers support, advice along with guidance. We are able to run counselling sessions with our highly trained in-house counsellor. Our Family Support Worker provides respite and community activities.
As a charity we rely on volunteers to help run our sessions along with helping us to provide the best level of service for our young people and families whilst also ensuring that funders will get the best value for money from our services.
All of our volunteers receive the same level of training as our staff and we have an excellent record of progression from volunteers to the staff team, some of whom are autistic themselves, which as a charity we are very proud of
