Four keen golfers and co-workers have decided to take on an all-day, 72-hole fundraising golf challenge in aid of Llay-based autism charity Your Space.
The event, involving a quartet from Chester-based recruitment company Avid Personnel, is taking place from 5.30am on Sunday 16th July at Clays Farm Golf Club near Wrexham Industrial Estate.
The fundraiser will act as a timely precursor to The 151st Open Championship at The Royal Liverpool Golf Club, which starts on Thursday 20th July.
Sean Brimlow, national sales manager of Avid Personnel and one of those taking part in the challenge, said: “Your Space” is a Charity which I feel has been under the radar until (Wrexham AFC hero) Paul Mullin brought it to the attention of the local community.
“Whereas larger charities get a lot of sponsorship and representation (rightly so), others such as “Your Space” are not so highly represented and need the funds equally.
“In a way yes, it is down to that fact that Paul is a patron for bringing “Your Space” to our attention, but more so that we as a company would like to support a local charity that do so much for a worthy cause.”
Sean and three directors from Avid – Dan Watson, Phil Lowrey and Sam Jones – are relishing the challenge ahead.
“Clays Golf Club’s general manager Josh Green has agreed to give us full support from the club and assist us in any way to raise money,” added Sean.
Your Space fundraiser Andrew Edwards said: “We are absolutely delighted that Sean, Dan, Phil and Sam have been so utterly kind to fund raise for ourselves.
“This is further reinforcement of the hard work everyone at Your Space, especially our founder/head of service Rachel Hancocks, have undertaken as we celebrate our 10th Anniversary with various events during 2023.
“Since we got Paul Mullin on board in March, it has been incredible the publicity that our charity has received locally, nationally and even worldwide.
“We are a very small organisation, so although we find it sometimes hard to take in, we have greatly appreciated the support we have managed to receive.
“This event acts as part of our 10th Anniversary Celebration Year during 2023. In addition to the golf day, we have a T20 cricket match taking place at Chirk CC on Sunday 25th June between the hosts and The Metronomes, a travelling club who fund raise for autism. We are rounding off our celebrations with an evening at Rossett Hall on Friday 13th October.
“If anyone would like to fundraise for Your Space. they can contact me on Andrew@yourspacemarches.co.uk or on 07828 013 025.”
