A nine-goal thriller at Stansty Park saw Championship side Ruabon Rovers continue their sensational season with a win over Premier favourites Lex.
Rovers now progress to the Horace Wynne Cup Final where a meeting with the mighty FC Queen’s Park awaits.
Lex stormed into a three-goal lead, Finley Dyer, 17-year-old Ethan Simpson and player-manager Ricky Evans (penalty) all on target within the first 22 minutes.
Ruabon’s top-scorer Conner Kendrick had to leave the field on the half-hour, but the visitors were remarkably back level by half time, Jimmy Jones (pen), Andrew Swarbrick and Dan Kebell all finding the net in a seven-minute spell.
Midway through the second half, Ryan Williams edged the visitors in front for the first time, then Kebell struck again on 69 to make it 5-3.
Joshua Hancock did reply for the Lawmen on 87, but Rovers held on for another tremendous win.
Treble-chasing Ruabon remain in contention for the Championship title with the Horace Wynne and Two Counties cup finals still to come.
It is now seven straight wins and 14 victories in their last 15 matches for the Park, who have a treble dream in their sights.
Already into the Mike Beech Memorial Trophy final, Dave Evans’ side advanced to the same stage of the Horace Wynne Cup on Saturday by seeing off Greenfield.
Callum Roberts and Mikey Latham delivered the goals for the Park.
Latham has scored 16 goals in as many matches since he returned to the Wrexham club in January.
The Park will meet Greenfield again in the Mike Beech Memorial Trophy final on April 30.
Next up for the Park is a home game against Castell Alun Colts tomorrow night (Wednesday, April 19) in the North East Wales League Premier Division, where they currently sit second.
Three goals in the closing 16 minutes from Town earned the win which lifted them back into top spot.
Having trailed 2-0 to goals from Owen Edwards and John Leonard, Casty fought back to lead 3-2, Nathan Davies (2) and Luca Nardo on the mark.
But the Quay rallied to win it, Ben Howarth, Jake Leonard and Kyle Reid rippling the net in those exciting closing stages.
No-score draws are rare in the North East Wales League, but there was a blank scoresheet at Coedpoeth.
Thomas Booth put the bottom side in front after 15 minutes, but the Spartans hit back with seven goals without reply.
Thomas Mitchell and Kobie Betts notched two apiece for the hosts, Sam Riley, Jack Aitken and Phil Hopkins with the rest.
Two late penalties from João Da Silva secured Bellevue their very first point of the season at the 19th attempt.
Mthulisi Ndlovu and Ben Summers put FCUW 2-0 to the good before the hour, but Da Silva spot-kicks after 79 and 89 minutes made sure it ended two-apiece.
Unbeaten Caerwys had to fight hard to see off the challenge of visitors Aston Park Rangers, two goals in the closing minutes cementing a 5-3 success.
Harry Roberts, Matthew Gilsenan (2), Jack Griffiths and Lewis Roberts supplied the goals for Daniel Sands’ side, Andrew Cook, Connor Davies and Joshua Roberts keeping Aston in the hunt.
Hosts Sychdyn fought back hard from trailing 4-0, but in the end came up just short.
Matthew Lewis, Daniel Price (2) and David O’Neill put the visitors in command before Luke Johnson Owen and Brandon Jones (2) put the home side back in with a shout.
Alastair Gibson (2) and Sam Giles put Acton in control before Shay Harding struck a late consolation for United.
Top-scorer Harry Massey plundered a hat-trick for winners Overton.
Massey’s treble was completed by a second-half penalty, Peter Thesens also on the mark for the hosts, while Joshua Underwood put Johnstown on the scoreboard.
Champions Queen’s Park Reserves received their title trophy after sweeping aside Ruthin in style at The Dunks.
Malcolm Wareham’s side are now just one game away from completing an invincible season, having gone undefeated in 19 matches.
Ashley Ryan, Matthew Bithell (2), Ryan Lancelotte, Sean Price and Liam Lawrence shared the goals on Saturday, Thomas Wynne with a single for the visitors.
Charlie Bradley (2), Jack Collins, Keiron Hughes and Damon Bradley combined as Quay went nap in victory over Casty, Jamie Hardy and Kacper Wojciech having initially given the visitors a 2-1 half time advantage.
Town are up to second place.
A good day for Caerwys with their third-placed reserves also picking up three points.
Callum Jones (2, 1 pen) and William Weaver provided the away goals, Kieran Edwards responding late for Llay.
George Baxter was a hat-trick hero for the Lawmen, whose other scorers were Taha Elfituri and Christopher Hewitt (pen).
Alyn Roberts and Luke Huber hit late consolations for the home side.
