Meet Rosie Hughes – not the one who plays for Wrexham!

Rosie Hughes is a great prospect who plays for Flint Town United Ladies

There is more than one Rosie Hughes playing women’s football in North Wales.

As well as the Wrexham netting machine, who has scored a phenomenal 84 goals in 36 games for the Genero Adran North title favourites, Flint Town United have a young star in the making who shares the same name as the Adran League’s most prolific markswoman.

Here a Q and A Grassroots North Wales recently conducted with the Silkwomen’s 17-year-old promising talent ROSIE ELLA HUGHES.

Name

Rosie Ella Hughes

Date of Birth

16/09/2005

Position

CM

Previous clubs

Flint U-10s, Wrexham Performance Centre, Rhyl Under-12s, NFA Under 12-16s

Strengths to your play

My ability to read the game and be able to play in multiple positions.

Rosie (16) takes on Caernarfon

Weaknesses in your play

Letting my frustration get the better of me.

How do you feel Flint Town United ladies’ debut season in the North Wales League is going so far?

Considering we were newly formed 2 weeks before the season started, I feel each week we keep improving individually and as a team, we are also becoming closer both on and off the pitch.

What has been the team’s best performance?

Llanystumdwy home 4-3. Considering only a few weeks before we lost 3-0 to the same team away, we worked hard to improve and beat them at home, showing how far we have come as a team.

And the worst performance?

Bangor 1876 away 0-9. On the day we were outclassed by the better team and we let our heads drop and frustration got the better of us.

Best team faced this season

Bangor 100%. As a team they have great quality across the pitch.

Which team-mate has impressed you most this season?

My sisters Daisy Hughes and Chloe Hughes because of how much they have both improved. Playing for our home town club is special for our family.

Personal highlight of this season so far

My goal to seal the win against Caernarfon in the 86th minute.

Rosie lines up with Flint Town United

What do you think of the overall standard of your league?

I think overall you can see how much each team has improved from the start of the season to now, which will only make the standard of the league better each season .

What are your hopes for the remainder of the season?

To keep improving as a team and individually and to pick up some more points.

How would you like to see Flint progress in the future?

Hopefully in a few seasons to challenge for the league title and have the chance to play in the league above.
