Congratulations to Bangor University’s rugby ladies who are through to the Conference Cup Final in Leeds on March 8.
In the showpiece game next month, they will meet Lancaster 1sts, who they have shared two close matches with already this season.
Abi Cousins, BUWRU team captain, said: “We lost to them in the league before Christmas (24-14) but then beat them in January in the return fixture (19-7) so it should be an exciting game.”
In the semi-finals, Bangor overcame a tough test against Manchester 1st XV.
Cousins added: “It was a hard-fought game, competitive up to the last minute. We utilised our training well and played a very fast game, making the opposition tire out quickly. Every member of the team lead to the victory.”
Forward of the match went to a player who was everywhere on the pitch. Having been out for a few weeks with injury, she made her return known. Not only was she a force in defence, making big hits throughout the game, but support lines led to some great breakthroughs in attack and ultimately the second try of the game. Congratulations to Bea O’Neill.
Back of the match went to a player who covered every position. She had amazing vision and scored the opening try.
Congratulations to Eloise Kirby.
Team sponsor C2C awarded their player of the match to Kristina Aguilar who was strong in the breakdowns and coordinated the forwards well throughout.
