Connah’s Quay Nomads 1 Wrexham 3

One win from their last two matches will guarantee Wrexham AFC Women the 2022-23 Genero Adran North title.

Steven Dale’s side clasped one hand firmly on the trophy today when two added-time goals clinched a massive win at fellow championship challengers Connah’s Quay.

The victory gave Wrexham a five-point lead over Nomads with two games apiece remaining.

The Dragonesses will be crowned champions next Sunday if they win at CPD Y Rhyl 1879.

Nomads still have to travel to Llandudno on March 19 before making the journey to Wrexham on March 26 to round off the campaign.

Today saw Wrexham make it 10 straight league wins, keeping them on course to lift the title with a 100% record over the season.

Winning manager Dale said on social media after the game: “Exactly what football is all about! Two late goals shows the desire and character of this group! An absolute pleasure to work with each week! Amazing scenes at the end with our loyal supporters! That one was for you.”

Stoppage-time goals from Katie Sharp and Amber Lightfoot clinched a thrilling victory at Deeside Stadium on Sunday.

Chances fell at both ends before Wrexham took the lead in the 26th minute from a familiar source.

Rosie Hughes notched her 36th goal of the season and a phenomenal 84th in 36 appearances since she joined the club at the start of 2021-22.

The striker showed an electric turn of pace to run in on goal before composing herself on the bobbling surface and firing low beyond keeper Meg Robinson.

Further goal attempts at either end were unsuccessful and the half ended 1-0 to the visitors.

Hughes raced down the left a minute after the restart and pulled back for Rebecca Pritchard, whose first-time left-footed shot was brilliantly saved by Robinson.

Nomads enjoyed a good spell of possession thereafter, and the pressure told on 54 minutes when Aimee Hopkinson hooked the ball home.

The hosts threatened late when Bentley turned and shot low on 86 minutes, but Delyth Morgan saved at full stretch and clutched onto the loose ball.

It looked destined to end in a draw, but inside five minutes’ stoppage time, Tonicha Dickens’ deep corner found Sharp at the back post to bundle the ball in.

And Lightfoot sealed victory moments later with a back-post finish.

Three goals from Ffion Williams helped Felinheli complete a quick double over Airbus in ruthless fashion at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium.

Williams scored the only goal of the first half on 33 minutes when she capitalised on defensive indecision by firing home a fierce shot.

Her second goal in the 63rd minute was a neat chip over the keeper after she hassled the home back-line.

Katie Midwinter made it 3-0 on 73 minutes with a trademark goal, an exquisite chip from around 20 yards over a back-pedalling keeper.

Midwinter provided the fourth for Jordanne Greenough, who did well to pounce on another defensive error before lifting the ball smartly beyond the Wingmakers custodian.

Williams saved her best till last, a missile from just outside the box making it eight goals this season.

Llanfair United 3 CPD Y Rhyl 1879 0

Gemma Jones’ treble lifted her season’s tally to 12 goals and condemned Rhyl to a fifth defeat in six league games.

Llanfair gained revenge over the Lilywhites for a 2-0 defeat at Belle Vue in November.

Jones struck on nine, 26 and 72 minutes at Mount Field.
