Six signings to say goodbye to January….

Jack Williams has moved from Llandudno Junction to Conwy Borough

Six great recent signings in North Wales football sign us off for January.

We’d like to have covered so many more, but some clubs simply don’t give out enough information.

Most provide photos on their social media, but often say nothing about the player’s background or even what position he plays.

I just don’t have the time usually to chase clubs and ask for info.

Pity, but we’ve done our best. Good luck to all players who have moved clubs this month.

Jack Williams (Llandudno Junction to Conwy Borough)

What a cracking signing this could turn out to be.

Jack Williams, a consistent marksman for tier 4 Llandudno Junction in recent seasons, has leapt to tier 2 to ply his trade with neighbours Conwy Borough.

The 24-year-old had netted 14 goals in 13 appearances for the Railwaymen this term, playing a key role in the Flyover side’s successful run which has vaulted them up the North Wales Coast East Premier Division.

Last season, Jack knocked in 25 goals in 29 outings for Junction, including 20 in the Premier and the campaign before shone for the Railwaymen in the former Welsh Alliance League, grabbing 16 goals in all competitions, 12 in WAL Division Two.

Jack has played in two matches for Conwy so far, both ending in draws.

Macca Lewis (Bow to Rhyl Dragons)

Macauley (but known to everyone as Macca) is probably best known for his prolific scoring for Six Bells in the Rhyl and District Sunday League last season.

He led the Golden Boot table for much of the campaign and ended on 21 goals, finishing only behind top-class strikers Jamie Haggas (27) and Benn Lundstram (28).

On joining the Dragons, Macca said: “I’ve always been a forward, sometimes play out wide but my preferred position is a striker. I’ve scored goals but not as many as I like. Just last year at Sunday League I scored a fair few, I just need my confidence back.”

His former clubs include Kinmel Bay Reserves, Rhyl All Stars, Kinmel Bay and Bow.

Macca shares the same birthday as Neco Williams, which is good.

Jamielee Patterson (CPD Cefni to Llanfairpwll)

CPD Cefni will certainly be disappointed to lose the striking talents of Patterson, who had scored 15 goals in 17 appearances for Graham Jones’ side this season before deciding to transfer to Llanfairpwll.

Patterson’s last outing for his former side was actually against his new club, with Llanfair beating Cefni 2-0 in the North Wales Coast West Division One Cup on January 21.

By the following weekend Patterson was in the Llanfair team which whipped CPD Mountain Rangers 4-1 – and he marked the occasion with a debut goal.

Ryan Woods (Colwyn Bay to Caernarfon Town)

Experienced keeper Ryan Woods has left Cymru North leaders Colwyn Bay and signed for Cymru Premier outfit Caernarfon Town.

The 32-year-old joined the Bay in June 2022 from Cymru Premier Flint Town United, for whom he made 17 appearances in all competitions in 2021-22.

This season saw Woods play in 14 matches for the Bay, having started the season as the regular No 1 before Cameron Darling took over.

Woods’ last game for the Seagulls was a 4-0 Welsh Cup defeat at Connah’s Quay Nomads on November 12.

The well-travelled goalkeeper has also played for Prestatyn Town, Llandudno Junction, Conwy Borough and Abergele.

James Stead (Caernarfon Town to CPD Y Rhyl 1879)

Creative midfielder who is great on the ball and can be deadly from set-pieces.

Having began his career at Rhyl FC, Stead moved to Prestatyn in 2014 and spent four years at Bastion Gardens, representing the club at Cymru Alliance and Welsh Premier League level.

One of his finest games came in 2017 when he netted a hat-trick in a 5-1 Welsh Cup fourth round victory at top-flight club Aberystwyth Town. Prestatyn were in the Cymru Alliance.

He rejoined the Lilywhites in June 2018, but was back at Prestatyn at the start of 2019/20, scoring six goals as Town romped to the Cymru North league title.

Stead signed for Caernarfon Town in October 2020, but did not make a first-team appearance.

He is now ready to give things a go with 1879.

James said: “I’m really pleased to be a part of the club, it’s on the way up and has a core of local lads. I know a lot of the lads here already and I’m looking forward to being a part of getting the football club back up the leagues.”

Tom Jones (Llanrwst United to CPD Llannefydd)

Tom becomes one of four Jones brothers now playing for tier 4 North Wales Coast East Premier Division title chasers Llannefydd.

It is a return to the village club for the 26-year-old Tom, who has been captain of Ardal North West side Llanrwst United this season.

Tom’s other former clubs include Rhyl FC, Ruthin Town and Denbigh Town, so he has always operated at a good level.

Although he was Llannefydd’s man of the match in his first appearance last Saturday, Gwyndaf Pritchard’s men went down 1-0 at Mochdre Sports.

Llan now have brothers Tom, Sam, Mathew and Ed in the ranks.
