Ten North Wales coast clubs have applied for Tier 3 Licence status next season – who are they?

Bethesda Athletic are currently top of the tier 4 North Wales Coast West League Premier Division. They have applied for Tier 3 status next season and if successful would likely enter Ardal North West

Ten North Wales coast clubs currently operating in the fourth-tier of Welsh football have applied to join Tier 3 next season.

Bethesda Athletic, Glantraeth, Llannefydd, Menai Bridge Tigers, Nefyn United, Penrhyndeudraeth, Prestatyn Sports, Pwllheli, St Asaph City and Talysarn Celts, currently in the North Wales Coast West or East Premier divisions, have all expressed an interest in affiliating to T3 Ardal North West in 2023-24.

As things stand positionally, Bethesda, Llannefydd, Prestatyn Sports, Pwllheli, St Asaph and Talysarn look like being main contenders for automatic promotion. That’s just on the playing side, though, other suitability factors determined by football administrators also come into the equation to secure a Tier 3 Licence.

Three North East Wales clubs also wish to enter tier 3 – current tier 4 sides Greenfield and Mynydd Isa Spartans, plus Rhydymwyn, who began this season in Ardal North West, but resigned in September.

Meanwhile, 12 teams from tier 3 Ardal Northern – seven Ardal North West and five in Ardal North East – have applied to go up to the second-tier Cymru North.

In Ardal North West, Bangor 1876, Brickfield Rangers, CPD Y Rhyl 1879, Denbigh Town, Flint Mountain, Llay Welfare and Nantlle Vale want to rise a level, while Caersws, Cefn Albion, Corwen, Llanfair United and Llanuwchllyn have put their names forward from North East.

All 16 clubs currently in the Cymru North have applied to retain their status.

The 15 clubs in Ardal North East and 14 members of Ardal North West have also requested that their tier 3 eligibility remains.
