Ardal North West – Bangor 1876 hit seven and regain top spot, Felinheli break Albion hearts with late decider

Corrig McGonigle’s latest hat-trick – his seventh of the campaign – increased his season’s goal tally to 38 as Bangor 1876 returned to the Ardal North West summit with a ruthless caning of hosts Llangefni.

Cefni entered Friday’s tussle at Cae Bob Parry on a high after back-to-back league wins, but despite taking the lead against 1876, they ended up well beaten, although the first half was close-fought.

The Anglesey side started well, Josh Stanley Williams going close early on before a 25-yard free kick from Matty Jones put Town in front on 12 minutes.

Liam Morris equalised on 21 minutes before McGonigle nudged the visitors ahead after 26.

Gethin Thomas added a third for 1876 with 33 minutes gone, but Cefni ensured it was still a contest at half time when Cai Powell Roberts replied.

The first goal of the second half was always going to be a crucial one and it came Bangor’s way when McGonigle netted on 49.

Just past the hour, McGonigle completed his latest treble from the penalty spot.

Late goals from substitutes Cameron Barry and Harry Galeotti again proved 1876’s strength-in-depth and completed an emphatic away win.

Albion’s difficult spell continued as they were beaten by an 87th minute goal in a game where they finished with nine men.

In a goalless first half at Y Morfa, Conwy, the hosts had Ben Jarvis dismissed on 37 minutes for a second yellow card.

Nine minutes into the second period, Albion’s Daniel McIlvogue received his marching orders for a second caution.

To make matters even tougher for the home side, Adam Jones’ own goal saw them go one down on 55 minutes.

Albion did really well to battle their way back into the game and a cracking equaliser on 81 minutes from Adam Hold gave them hope.

But three minutes from time Tomos Davies plundered the winner for Euron Davies’ men.
