Footballer Jody Cain’s visit to Qatar with Urdd Gobaith Cymru was boosted by a special visitor today.
FAW chief executive Noel Mooney dropped by to say hello to our young Urdd ambassadors in Doha, who have been introducing Wales and the Welsh language to local school children through sports activities.
An Urdd spokesperson said: “Mae Noel Mooney wedi dod draw i ddweud helo wrth griw’r Urdd draw mewn ysgol yn Doha, ble maent wedi bod yn brysur yn hybu’r Gymraeg a Chymru drwy weithgareddau chwaraeon dros y dyddiau diwethaf.”
This week Jody is in sunny Qatar, where Wales are competing in their first World Cup finals in 64 years, making new friends and passing on her coaching skills.
As part of their World Cup celebrations, the Urdd is running the Welsh Youth Ambassador Qatar Programme. Staff and youth ambassadors are hosting sport and arts workshops in schools in Doha and Dubai.
Jody, 20, has represented CPDM Bethel/Felinheli for many years. She recently completed her first 90 minutes in a senior game since returning from a long injury lay-off and has also been turning out for the under-19’s.
