Four CPD Y Rhyl 1879 players have received three-match bans for being sent off in the recent Ardal North West clash against Bangor 1876 at Belle Vue.

Miles Todd, Aaron White, Jack Higgins and Alex Jones are all suspended for three matches after being shown red cards during the October 22 fixture, which finished 2-1 to 1876.

1879 manager Gareth Thomas, who was ordered from the bench in the second half, has picked up a two-game ban.

The fiery encounter resulted in seven red cards in total, including two for the visitors. As a result, Bangor 1876 players Corey Jones and Tomos Clarke were also suspended for three games.

Any further action which may result from the match, which is subject to a police investigation, is as yet unknown.

The FAW released news on all the aforementioned punishments this week.

2-0 win at Brickfield

Meanwhile, two early goals were enough to clinch the points for 10-man 1879 at Clwyedog Park on Saturday, reports Shôn Hughes.

It was a sixth win in seven league starts for the Belle Vue men and lifted them up to third in tier 3 Ardal North West.

In the only ANW fixture of the weekend, the visitors were aiming to wipe out the memories of back-to-back defeats at the hands of Bangor 1876 and Nefyn United.

With several absentees it was left to assistant-manager Andy Wilmot to take charge as Gareth Thomas was serving the first of his two-game ban.

Also suspended were Todd, Alex Jones, Higgins and White. Joining Jordan Worthington on the injured list this week was Tom Cain, who suffered a serious ankle injury at work and is due to be out for a lengthy period.

Referee Ryan Davies got the game underway at Parc Clywedog on a very heavy pitch, some great work by the Rangers volunteers ensuring the match was able to go ahead.

Within a couple of minutes 1879 were in the lead. A loose ball on the edge of the box was collected by Elliott Evans, who spotted Rangers’ goalkeeper Elliot Hall off his line and gracefully lifted the ball over him into the net.

Only eight minutes in and the visitors were two-up. Jonny Taylor earned a free kick midway through Rangers’ half and took it quickly, slotting the ball through to Leon Atkins, who took a touch and fired into the roof of the net.

Brickfield battled back and with 34 minutes played Jonny Taylor and Rangers goalkeeper Hall tangled off the ball.

The incident was missed by referee Davies but seen by his assistant Macy Watson, who called the referee over and the resulting action saw Taylor receive a straight red card adding to 1879’s growing list of unavailable players.

Following the red card the game lost its edge as a spectacle, with 1879 sitting deep and Rangers trying to break them down.

In the second half several opportunities fell to Brickie, but the combination of Luke Wilmot in goal pulling off a highlight reel of saves and the defence putting everything on the line kept Brickfield at bay.

The hosts had a big chance when a miss-timed tackle by Warren Adam gave away a penalty. Up stepped Harley Steel who saw his shot saved by Wilmot, low to his left.

On 81 minutes came Wilmot’s best save of the game.

Substitute Jay Richardson collected the ball on the right, was allowed to cut in and whipped a wicked ball to Wilmot’s left, but with his body at full stretch the keeper got enough on the ball to push it out for a corner.
