Sometimes tier 5 football in North Wales can throw up a surprise marquee signing.

This season we have seen the likes of Asa Thomas and Marc Evans join Trearddur Bay of North Wales Coast West Division One, while North Wales Coast East Division One club NFA’s capture of former Welsh Premier player Tom Kemp raised a few eyebrows.

Now newly-formed Bow FC have joined the party.

The fifth-tier East Division One club which plays its matches in Prestatyn have signed forward Tom Weir from tier 2 club Gresford Athletic.

Weir, 21, had joined the Colliers of the Cymru North in the 2022/23 summer transfer window.

During his career, Weir has also played for Prestatyn Town, Rhyl, Denbigh Town, Colwyn Bay, Connah’s Quay Nomads, Flint Town United and Conwy Borough.

The forward first played for Prestatyn Town as a youth player in 2013, before signing for Rhyl in the 2015/16 season and then Denbigh Town until 2017. He also had a short spell at Colwyn Bay.

He then moved to Connah’s Quay Nomads for four seasons, playing for their academy, until he returned to Rhyl in 2020.

Weir then signed for Flint Town United in 2021 before joining Conwy Borough in the 2021/22 January transfer window.

During the 2021/22 season, he made five appearances in all competitions for Flint Town United, providing one assist. He also made six JD Cymru North appearances and scored two goals for Conwy Borough.

Weir has now stepped down three levels with Bow, who currently sit sixth in North Wales Coast East Division One.
