Amazing end to North Wales Women’s Cricket League title race – will there be a decider?

Bethesda, pictured with their mascot, won their final league game on Monday night. What happens next?

An amazing end to the 2022 North Wales Women’s Cricket League title race has seen last year’s champions Bethesda and just-crowned Hundred Ball Welsh Plate winners Colwyn Bay finish level on points.

Pesda achieved parity with the Bay on Monday night on 253 points after a win over Northop Hall in their final match.

It is believed the league is now looking at the possibility of a play-off between the top two to determine the overall champions.

In their two meetings this season, the pair hold a win apiece over each other.

Monday night saw Bethesda take on Northop Hall at Llandudno CC.

Pesda made 117-1 off their 16 overs for a net score of 312.

Poppy Smith made 15 (once out = net 10), Ellie Creek 11, Emma Jones 11 and Hannah Jones 10.

Sara Williams took the sole wicket to fall for the Flintshire team.

Hall were limited to 77-5, skipper Stephanie Noonan an excellent 22, while for the Ogwen girls, Megan Hughes notched 1-4, Ellie Creek 1-7, Poppy Smith 1-10 and Hannah Jones 1-33.

Bethesda won by 60 runs and 20-4 on points.

Northop Hall (20) 134-1 (net 329) Carmel (0) 89-5 (net 264)

Last Wednesday, Northop Hall beat Carmel by 65 runs at Pen-y-Gelli.

Noonan hit 24, Kathryn Rhymer 19, captain Hester Evans-Ford 19, Becky Hicks 13 and Julie Pringle 10 as the visitors piled up 134-1 off 16 (net score 329).

Carol Owen was the Carmel wicket-taker.

Carmel were restricted to 89-5 (net 264) with Carol Owen scoring 12, Noonan 2-9, Evans-Ford 2-18 and Sarah Edwards 1-15 for Hall.
