NORTH WALES COAST WEST LEAGUE DIVISION ONE – REPORTS FOR WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17

Llangoed and District 3 Arriva 1

Caretaker-manager Dewi Williams must have been delighted his first game at the helm for Llangoed delivered three points.

Williams, who took over as interim-boss after the much-respected David ‘Twm’ Thomas stepped down this week, watched on proudly as the Puffins secured their first win of the campaign.

Llangoed took a 16th minute lead when Dan Owen’s great long-range pass in behind the defence released Anthony Williams, who lobbed powerfully on the half-volley into the roof of the net.

The score was doubled in the 23rd minute when Charlie Melder’s fierce shot was kept out by the foot of keeper Jonathon Gould, but Aaron Evans was first to react and blast home.

Arriva pulled one back before the break when Andy Clarke converted a penalty he won himself after being brought down by Harry Gregson in the area.

Llangoed were pinned back for most of the second half, but defended heroically.

They also remained dangerous on the counter through Williams and Evans.

Finally, on 84 minutes the Puffins put the game to bed after an outstanding run from exceptional centre-back Nathaniel Evans, who burst through the Arriva midfield and found Dan Owen totally unmarked to slot in the third.

Bethesda Rovers 1 Llanfairpwll 1

Marquis Holland put Llanfairpwll in front just before half time, but Kieron Bullock’s 70th minute equaliser ensured Rovers maintained their unbeaten record.

Cemaes Bay 5 Mountain Rangers 1

Three wins out of three for Cemaes, who were too strong on the night for Rangers

The deadlock was broken on 14 minutes when some great work from Josh Griffiths saw him break into the box before being felled. Captain Keenan Downey stepped up to convert the penalty.

Due to good away defending, the reds had to wait until the 40th minute for the second goal, Matt Reynolds creating space for himself brilliantly before hammering home an unstoppable shot.

Two minutes later, fellow attacker Griffiths broke free down the left before providing a quality finish into the bottom right corner.

In the second half, chances were few and far between until the last 20 minutes when Bay stepped things up.

The hosts made it 4-0 when some class play from substitute Cian Owen down the right saw him provide a perfect cross to fellow sub Sam Wiltshire, who headed home.

It was then Rangers’ turn to score when Rhys Jones lashed in a brilliant long range finish.

There was still time for Shane Jones to volley in a fifth for the hosts.

CPD Gaerwen 0 Caergybi 3

Owain Griffiths, James Ryan and Louis Chapman delivered the goals which clinched three points for Caergybi.

CPD Y Fali 0 Trearddur Bay 5

Asa Thomas continued his great start to the season for Trearddur Bay with the latest hat-trick of his goal-packed career.

The 31-year-old striker, whose treble included a penalty, is already on nine goals for the campaign from just four games.

Philip Jones and Marcus Bell were also on target for the visitors.

Holyhead Town 2 CPD Cefni 1

Chris Hughes’ 84th minute net-finder sealed the win for the Harbourmen at Millbank.

Paul Williams earlier notched a 40th minute equaliser for Town after Jamie Patterson had handed Cefni an early lead.

Llanystumdwy 4 Bontnewydd 4

All square at Dwyfor Park, where Owen Pritchard (2), Darren Parry and Kyle Williams shared the home goals, while Alex Kalafusz (2), Sion Jones and Meilir Rowlands made sure Bont took a point.

Pritchard saved the day for Llan with a 90th minute equaliser after Kalafusz’s double put the visitors 4-3 up in the latter stages.
