Prestatyn second eleven provide day’s only North Wales team highlight in Liverpool Competition

1st XI First Division
Rainford (25) 237-8 dec Northop Hall (5) 129-10
Dhanosh Kaludewa’s 6-82 was the only highlight of a day which delivered a heavy defeat for Northop Hall.
Hosts Rainford piled up 237-8 declared, opener Jason Login leading the way with 104.
The Hall were dismissed for just 129, number 11 bat Daniel Graham 27 not out and Will Edwards at the top of the order 24, John Dotters 5-40 and Andrew Davies 5-54 for the hosts.
Sefton Park (20) 212-10 Colwyn Bay (7) 157-10
A below par batting display cost Colwyn Bay dearly at Croxteth Drive.
Patrick Glover pocketed 4-34, Jagjit Sandhu 3-31 and top wicket-taker Paul Jenkins 3-85 as Sefton Park batted 61.2 overs before being all out for 212, skipper Paul Horton finishing 109 not out.
In reply, Bay slumped to 67-6 and were 108-9 before Sam Bright (34 no) and Jenkins (30) put on 49 for the last wicket. Leo Spilsbury claimed 3-12 for the winning hosts.
2nd XI Premier Division
Colwyn Bay (7) 149-10 Ormskirk (20) 178-9 dec
James Jones’ season-best bowling figures of 7-44 were not enough to save the Bay seconds from a home loss.
Ormskirk set 178-9 declared off 49 overs, Jones the stand-out home bowler, before the hosts were sent packing for 149, skipper Tom Roberts 40 and Matt Russell 33, Matty Aggrey 4-31 for the visitors.
2nd XI First Division
Northop Hall (4) 54-10 Leigh (25) 233-8 dec
Renit Adke scooped 4-54 for the hosts as Leigh posted 233-8 declared, but the Hall were then blasted out for a mediocre 54 in response, Liam Evans-Ford a battling 25, Ryan Housley snaring 6-7 for the away side.
2nd XI Second Division
Prestatyn (8) 201-5 dec St Helens Town (6) 162-7
Prestatyn seconds were the only North Wales team in action to avoid defeat in the Liverpool Competition on Saturday.
Opener Steven Edwards made a career-best 86 and Nauman Ahmad finished 61 not out as the hosts posted 201-5 declared off 41 overs.
St Helens were 162-7 at the close, David W Platt 96, Ashley Jones 4-69 and Jaden Ablett 3-16 for the North Wales side.
